as usual - SG dissappointed us AGAIN last nihgt ..

sianzzzzzz

the iranians are bigger, much stronger, much better technically compared to the sg players, but the iranians are divers too. there was once when their striker fell down after a little nudge..then the replay showed that while he went down holding his legs in pain, he took a glance at the referee for a moment and continued his drama. what a dirty tactic.
anyway congrats to alam shah for scoring with a blistering header.

Falling down, writhing in agony is part of soccer's strategy, employed by coaches carried out by players. Just like trying to win a penalty when one's in the box especially if a goal is needed.

Last night's game...
The penalty awarded against Singapore was a pretty harsh decision also I felt that when an Iranian player handled the ball in the box, think in the 2nd hlf, appeals for a penalty were brushed aside by the ref, that should've been given. The linesman had a better view of the incident but I guess, he may have been looking out for players in offside positions.

Singapore could've won the game.

Now it's Jordan next, the thing is the SLeague is starting in Feb, I'm just afraid players will carry injuries from the games to the crucial match.

Perhaps FAS could look into suspending some league games prior to allow the National players to perhaps have more recovery time & more importantly avoid silly injuries.

No one is hoping that Singapore will win the Cup proper but it's an opportunity for the nation to make it into the tournament. Will be a valuable experience for the next wave, a player like Harris for example.

That would be inline for a more realistic goal of trying to win a Sea Games Gold before loftier ambitions like qualifying for the World Cup.

Singapore is one country with a lot of high hopes for their football team, but honestly speaking, Iran is such a good Asian side, they have players playing for Europe and EPL, and they weren't even fielding their usual 11. They have qualified for World Cups many times before, while we can't even qualify once. Unless we can have about 6 more foreign talents in our team, I don't see us going very far.

Its the final ACQ match for the Lions as they take on Jordan away on March 3rd. Mediacorp will be telecasting it live (or delayed) at 11pm. To stand a chance of making it to Asian Cup 2011, Lions need to beat Jordan and hope Thailand do not beat Iran on Iranian home ground. But injuries has already plaque the Lions..Wilko and Shaiful are injured..so is Khairul Amri..Qiu Li is a doubt but heard he might recover in time.

Can the Lions do the impossible?
