Setting up that thing... is enough to put many guitarists off man. Hell lots of patience needed. And i don't wanna know the total cost of it all :D

When you have a rack like that someone else is bound to be paying so cost doesn't really matter. The set up is done by the tech normally.

Ok, well then you will need this shopping list and about 50k
1-DMC System Mix
2-TC Electronic 2290
2-TC Electronic M3000
1-TC Electronic G Force
1-Eventide DSP7000
1-DBX 266XL
1-Mesa High Gain Amp Switcher
1-Dunlop Cry Baby Custom Shop Rack Wah (newer version)
1-Custom Mark Snyder interface
1-Furman AR Pro power regulator
3-Mesa Boogie Roadkings
2-Mesa Boogie Lonestars

its hilarious really....to see tens of thousands sitting on a DBX 266XL...?? hehehe...thot they could have thot up a better compressor...

but then again...what do i know....hahahaha

These rigs must really be a pain in the arse to transport around. My dream rig will still be comprised of floor based pedals  Easy to carry around, almost anywhere heh.

haha petrucci uses boss pedals too..saw in ads..but dunno if he uses live..probably in the studio only.

On the newest DVD he just has a MIDI controller no stompboxes. Hmmmm maybe he used them on the SDoIT tour.

Why do people love rack effects so much? I guess i'm kinda like Tom Morello who says he's afraid of them. I still prefer simple setup like guitar --> pedalboard --> amps .....

When was the last time you saw a 31 band eq or a 30db comp. stompbox? Basically rack effects are just so much meaty-er than floor, and the sound quality is much better when you are buying top of the range rack stuff. O jeah and A rack mulit effect (ie. TC electron G-Force) won't create as much noise as 10 or more stompboxes. AND THE LEDS, YOU GOTTA LOVE THE LEDS.

Heh you've got a point there. All that blinking lights on a dark stage sure is cool. But i guess the convenience factor plays a huge part with a constantly gigging guitarist.

No batteries. Definitely no batteries. I wouldn't use batteries for my pedals if i could help it. A wall wart is so much prettier than batteries. Plugging out cables everytime you're done with playing to save battery power is just not my thing.

hmm ever thought of the routing option on these big racks?Programming the midi or floor board can be a nightmare...

i think those are overkill..furthermore imo simple rack set up will do..
i would not fork out thousands of dollars to get 3 or 4 amp heads,
I prefer preamp..they are easier to transport..

Oh BTW some of these heads or other rack device are dummy..
it serves as a backup...in case the main one (when giging) died...
thinking of which i would to get my hands on an ENGL preamp...hehe
