oh btw, there is no such thing as POOR in singapore.

even the POOR have television sets or fridge that are donated.

you know what is poor like elsewhere? starve to death. livng in slumps and squatters till the disease takes control of your body, till the babies have no energy to cry,bloated tummy, just bones,ribs and skulls.

now that's what i call poor.

the ones begging on the streets???(in SG).. Fck they're sorry looking stinky ass..

those are escorts. the ones at geylang, and some other stupid places, even outside temples, and so on. they are NOT locals. one look and you will know.

i've seen a lady, carrying a baby. one hand holding out for money, the other.... pinching the baby so it'll cry it's heart out till tears run dry..

now would you give your money to that sick lady?

let alone volunteer?..

yes you may donate to some charitable communities or any organisation ...

but do you really know where your money goes to?..

does 100% of your money contributed goes to the needy? or the greedy.

there are nasty people. rich/poor/tall/thin/fat/stupid/smart/talented/unlucky/lucky.
there are sadly , too many types of sucky people in this world.

The rich generally donate money to charity for a good cause, get some tax savings and generate goodwill for their companies.
If you actually been in the harsh world of business you should know this saying... "Everyman for himself" , no company/person goes all out to GIVE without returns. Even the most giving soul has to eat welcome to reality
The charity organizations market their cause this way to increase their value add.

personally in Singapore i believe Majority of us are born into a life of bliss.
with a roof over our heads and a nice, clean efficient country to belong to.
Many of us have not seen true suffering. Seeing a dead person on T.V or you tube is so...so... different from seeing one in real life i can assure you.
Its so myopic to rant and rant about the rich oppressing the poor... inequality, injustice to the less fortunate blah blah blah. When your personal opinion is based on your limited grasp of reality.

Ever seen the one armed ang moh guy twirling his music box? he was featured in the papers a couple years ago. He stayed in a HOTEL throughout his entire stay and lived better then some of us with 8-5 jobs. Beggars in Singapore are usually syndicates which capitalize on our empathy. there are the exceptionally poor in Singapore. But there is always some form of aid to those who seek it out.

theres the rich spoiled expat kid flinging stray kittens on walls and the thai workers gutting puppies and kicking them to death.
A true animal lover would condemn both.

life sucks. we learn that pretty early on in this world. life's not fair. true.
there are rich and poor, kind and cruel, those with power and those who are helpless.

the only post I saw which made sense was "be the change you want to see in the world."

talking about it is fine, whining about it is fine as long as that isn't all you do.

there's a lot of crap happening in the world. thing is, you CAN do something about some of it. if you're paranoid about 'corporate charities', volunteer your time so you know your contribution didn't get squandered on gold taps.

something a Buddhist friend of mine told me once. still think it makes sense. "This world is about balance. If there is no evil, there will be no good."

the main problem in our society is that we r ignorant. we keep taking things easy and when things are not right, we blame the govt.

i must say we must change our views man. it doesnt matter whether we have money or not. but how rich we are, our mindset must be richer than our money too.
