The Leap Years

Saw the movie trailer on Channel 8/U last week.
Think the background music is from the soundtrack itself.

To me, the music reminds me of Ryuichi Sakamoto's composition (Mery Christmas, Mr Lawrence) in 1983.

When I compare both of them directly,
hm...
only the Chord Progression is same & the arrangement is similiar. The melody is different.

Anyway, I like the music very much, can't wait to buy its Soundtrack.

That's it! I was wondering where I have heard that Leap Years theme music from. Don't u think that the 2 melodies sound pretty similar? The one from 'the leap years' is like a variation of the Sakamoto melody. Not accusing the 'the leap years' composer of plagiarising or anything. Just that the melodies to me sound similar. Thanks for bringing it up anyway. Wonder who that movie composer is.

this looks like its going to be a great local production...the trailer looks kinda touching also...WEHHH~~ like the soundtrack on the trailer :D

wong li lin, jade seah and fiona xie in a love triangle over vr man - james lye. hahaha that would be stuff of legend.

the main part of that merry christmas mr lawrence sounds like a FIFA song in the past years or smth. i heard that before but it made use of bells instead or smth.

Had a chance to talk about some directors regarding this movie yesterday at Scape..
It will be something we will look forward to, but this production has underwent the supervision of several directors.. Things may become fragmented if the directors had different ideas for the show..

If I'm not wrong, the composer is Ricky Ho, one of my favorite composer for chinese pop.

Zel, which which years's FIFA song you refer to?

Recently i browse the "The Leap Years" official website & realised the following:
"Trailer Music Adapted by: Robert WS". I remember I didn't see that line in the Credit portion when I first browse that webpage before. I only see "Original Music by: Ricky Ho" in Credit last time.
So, does it means that the song featured in Trailer won't be exist in movie (anyone watch the movie? can advise?)? and the song will not be included in its soundtrack (btw, is there a soundtrack for this movie, I been searching it for weeks)?

Well, no matter it is a "adapt" or "original", I like it & feel it suit the movie scene.
Been looking for that song so far...

p/s: Please dun ask me to look for "Merry Christmas, mr Lawrence", I have more than 8 versions of it.
