how many of you are humble when it comes to guitar?...
my friend once told me no guitarist is humble....
is it cause of the shiny2 solos behind those songs?
or is it those fast pickings? or shreds.......or how heavy your playing is?

how many of you can actually say u dont boast bout your skills
u keep true to your roots....and shine when it is needed...
you dont brag bout which equipment you use...keep true to the music
and still say to your self...."i got alot to learn..gotta practice somemore"...even after you got the timing....the aim for perfection.....

just a tought hah no offence to anybody
haha

hah a humble guy doesn't say that he's humble. or in whatever way you put it. If he does, he's just contradicting himself and just shot himself right on the foot. I do have some around me.just my pov.

but then again he dosent have to admit his humble...the way you play also depicts on whats ur attitude like....or am i just crapping???

true true. i think you can tell certain things about someone through thei music. but then again, if its not excessive boasting, i think showing off a little is fine, since as a beginner guitarist now, i can say those people practiced damn hard to get to where they are now. just my 2 cents. (:

A humble guitarist? There's such a thing???:o

Yes indeed. Guitarists like me who have nothing to boast about other than the ability to be inaudible. :)

Rhythm guitarists are more likely to be humble than lead guitarists, because the rhythm guitarist is in the background playing the song, producing the sound with the bass guitar and drums, while the lead guitarist is always doing some flashy solo and woo-ing the crowd. I always consider the lead guitar to be somewhat similar to the vocals in that it is always in the 'frontline'.

But a rhythm guitarist's life is a good life. Never good to be too well known. :)

i got to agree with this...guitarist distortions tend to be overpowered....and could drowns the whole band...what are some of your suggestion to this??

Do soundchecks before jamming sessions.

In my case, it's a little different. My guitar's always inaudible, my other guitarist and my bassist are audible, but they become inaudible once the drums kick in.

you can never know everything. if you think you know everything, truth is, you don't. there's always something new to learn. so be humble, by being arrogant you are just shooting yourself in the foot.

i think paul gilbert's pretty humble. despite the fact he has crazy skills. but of course, that's what i gathered from watching his videos n stuff, so i may still be wrong.

yngwie's humble about his guitar skills too, but misunderstood. he is just a straight up say what he wants guy and unfortunately some people couldn't take it.

I forgot to mention.........lower his volume if he's a lead guitarist!

err.. not all lead guitarists do that. i feel rather annoyed at gigs when the lead guitarist is always too damn soft to hear and his solos and riffs don't come through well. balanced rather, i'd say.
