Wenger - Our potential should keep Hleb here

By Richard Clarke

If Alex Hleb does decide to leave Arsenal in the summer, his motivation should not be the pursuit of trophies, according to Arsène Wenger.

The Belarus midfielder has been linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium in recent weeks, something that his manager admits he is powerless to stop.
Wenger is sure the 27-year-old will extend his three-year stay in North London but Arsenal's failure to land a trophy this season will have nothing to do with the decision.
"I believe Alex will stay but you cannot stop the rumours when players are in this type of situation," said Wenger. "But I want Hleb to stay like everybody else.

"You can go to Real Madrid and Barcelona, but you have no more guarantees to win trophies. And from this season we should get the belief we can win trophies and come back to win the title

Gilberto - I'll chat with the boss about my future

By Richard Clarke

Gilberto intends to have an "open and nice conversation" with Arsène Wenger about his future at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old wants to stay at Emirates Stadium but admits he has been a frustrated figure on the bench this term. He has only amassed 18 starts in all competitions when, 12 months ago, he was a regular and a strong contender for Player of the Season.
Typically, despite his disappointment, Gilberto has kept his counsel and will remain a model professional for these last three games. However he will seek out his manager before the summer.
"I will sit down with the boss at the end of the season," he said. "But for the next few weeks, I will keep focused on doing my job and try to help the team as much as I can. Whether it's on the pitch as I was on Saturday, or whether it's on the training pitch working with the players.
"I will always do my best as a professional but then, at the end of the season, I will see when I speak to Arsène. We always speak very nicely, the conversations we have are very nice. He's open and we'll talk.
"I still have one more year. To be honest, I really want to stay and I've always expressed that. Of course I'm upset that I've not played much this season because last year I played the whole season and this year has been really frustrating.
"But you need to be professional, respect the manager's point of view and help the other players to the maximum that I possibly can.
He went on: "I confess to you, that it's hard to watch from the bench. But I need to respect the other players, respect the manager's view and to be professional.
"I think I have done a good job for Arsenal, I want to carry on and wait for my chance but I also enjoy being back on the field and for me the season starts right now in these last four games."

well, it is said that Juve has offered Flamini a five-year contract at £3.5m a year.. how bout that..

diaby can feel the gap, and yuh he is a natural centre mid, anw this is first rumour abt flamini being offered, Henry was rumour went around like more then a year, and he left on his 8th year in arsenal, he was in arsenal from 1999 - 2007, so in other word, rumour will be around, and i believe if this player wants to leave Arsenal because of seeking of trophy, den think again, example Viera, who left arsenal for Juventus in 2005 in pursuit of UCL trophy, instead Juve was relegated...same goes with other ex-arsenal player, who left arsenal to hunt for trophy but with limited success or no success at all.Except for marc overmars who say he left arsenal because success came so fast for him over in Arsenal and wants better challenge...in the end of the day, Arsene can find diamond in the ruff easily, he can polish an average player into world class, i cannot name a few coz he transformed alot of average player to world class, in other word, i don care if player leave Arsenal for seeking trophy, coz Arsene can find a replacement, rite now u see Song in Centre Back for Arsenal and he is adapting very well though there also a few things he need to improve (sign of gallas and senderos will not feature in next season)as far as i concern, not many player who came to Arsenal will be like Bergkamp or Mr Arsenal himself Tony Adam to name a few who end their carreer as a proud Arsenal player, even though the club never win that season or wat so ever....hehehe

I think to be fair to Tohari whom I think knows his stuff very well, Arsenal were expected to be in a re-building mode this season and not much was expected from them.

I think Hleb was a revelation this season. Eduardo did very well. Adebayor was magnificent early on and Toure was unbeatable and Gallas kep his gap shut.

Where they went wrong was having a small squad and being too thin at the back. Once their main back four lost even a single player, they had major problems filling in the gap.

True,to be honest, after Eduardo horrified injury, it cause a major blow to Arsenal player especially the young 1, it seems that every1 was so scare to even play, yuh as wat mention by some pundits, Arsenal should have players like in chelsea or man u, where when faces injuries, available to fill to gap...for example, man u against roma before meeting Arsenal over the weekend, they rest keys player ....and still win....if they want they can keep gallas, but the captain armband, some1 are worthy to be leader, like i always and most of Arsenal fan said, some1 with Tony Adam calibre.....strong leadership.

No.. Not that I see it. Shit happens in football, if you're scared to play I don't think you're really suited to be in the top flight.

Walcott - I know I must produce for 90 minutes

Many have seen this as the season that Theo Walcott ‘arrived’, but the man himself wants more.
The 19-year-old has broken his Premier League and Champions League ducks and produced several game-changing performances from the bench. It appears, though, that is not enough for the ambitious youngster.
Arsène Wenger hailed Walcott’s display against Reading as his “most complete yet”. The forward tormented defenders from start to finish with his nimble feet and blistering pace; that is exactly what he has been waiting for.
“I don’t want to be coming off the bench all the time,” Walcott told the matchday programme. “I want to get in the starting line-up and I know I need to produce what I do when I come off the bench into practise when I start the games. That's my next target.
“At the start of the season, I said I wanted to make 20 or 25 starts, and score 10 goals. At the moment I'm on 16 starts (Walcott was speaking before the weekend match) and five goals, so it looks like I will fall just short of that.
“I thought that was a reasonable target for the season, so I would have liked to have played a bit more than I have, especially lately because I feel I have been playing quite well, but not starting.
“The boss actually spoke to me and he said that my development is going really well at the moment. That's nice to hear. If I keep doing the right things, people will notice even if we don’t get the right results.”
One such occasion where a disappointing result overshadowed the teenager’s brilliance came at Anfield. Walcott ran practically the length of the pitch leaving four Liverpool players in his wake before squaring to Emmanuel Adebayor to convert. Within minutes, though, Steven Gerrard lashed home a penalty sending the Gunners crashing out of the Champions League.
“It's a shame obviously that we didn't go through, but I know myself what I have done. My display up at Liverpool is the sort of thing I want to do when I start the games — get the defenders on the back foot so that they don’t know what I'm going to do next.”
And where on the field does he feel most comfortable in doing that?
“I think I am more dangerous as a striker, and the boss sees me as a striker so I don’t think I have anything to worry about. I think I will play up front more next season which will be nice but I have to work hard to get in the right positions.
“I've been training and practising a lot at home too, because I have an Astroturf area there now as well so I work on things there and try to take it into training, and then into the games.”

true enough, but to have a teammate go through that injury would sometimes affect the whole team..i`m not saying that their performance were damped only because of his injury, they also did not play well at times and gave away goals and were not ruthless infront of goals. most of these players are young and are still gaining experience.but,i know that they will bounce back next season and play even more beautiful football..
top flight or not, these are professional footballers and i`m damm sure that they aren`t scared to play well for their team as well as country:)

shits happen everywhere my fren, we witness it at home, they witness it first hand, face to face, and they still young and some of this young footballer never even seen such a horrifying injury, mentally unprepared, is easy for u to say "if you're scared to play i don't think you're really suited to be in the top flight.".coz u witness it either u saw it on the net, read it on the paper or watch it on tv....they saw it right infront of their nose......
