THE FOOTBALL THREAD Vol 2

Now? Now we have the champions league. You have the league crown, a few years back. But what? No champions league? We're getting the bpl soon, we're already established in Europe, so that's one down. Can't say the same for you guys though.

Note: Man utd also won the champions league in the past, but poo, now?

how is man utd not a dominant force in europe?we could have bagged europe but unluckily felt to milan which seem that it was their year.well about milan.both pool and milan are the same.where in god's name are they in their domestic league respectively?

If Man U didn't have Sheringham, I think they will have never won the Cup.

But Liverpool's so used to the Cup. 2 finals in 3 seasons. Beat that.

that has to be the stupidest comeback on earth, saying that about sherringham. Seriously.

Being dominant is no use, if you don't turn it into titles. Yes, the league, Liverpool win improve, no doubt about it, next year? 2 years, it's coming back soon. But man utd being the ' dominant ' force in Europe for so long, but not winning it? Seems like being dominant isn't everything.

PS: I merely defend.

Actually, I have never really thought of Man U as an European force... I mean, in recent times especially.

Man U is sure a big club with everything but ever since 1999 Treble, Man U has not made any progress with the Champions League. They even lost to Benfica two seasons ago and couldn't clear the group stages.

But you have to admit amidst all the "you-can-never-challenge-for-the-domestic-league", Liverpool is still a force to be reckoned with. Respect that.

empihsorrow, i believe after a team WINS a cup, theres no further upward progress to be made. what, win it by a higher score isit. and yea manu sucked in europe 2 years ago. what about last year? liverpool had a MUCH easier route to the final. and dont forget manu's 7-1 thrashing of a respected italian team. sure we lost to milan but so did liverpool. Im not saying liverpool isnt a force to be reckoned with, thats just arsenal (heh). but manu are definitely currently a much bigger and better force than liverpool

Ah, as usual, the rivalry.

We always think our team is the better team.

But still, I think that Liverpool's performance was shit this season. Even though I am kind of a staunch supporter of Liverpool...

I will say that... Liverpool's more of an European force than Man U.

haha agree with dime, we ll definitely see about that.
But i do have to admit, for some freaking reason liverpool still can pull off wins against other big teams with the same success rate as lets say manu or arsenal.

dude man utd kicked fulham's butt without the real deal in the starting line-up(ronny,wazza).look, still pull off a comfortable win.lets liverpool do that.oh wait, they are doing it.rotation policy shit.lost after lost, draws after draws.too bad pool!

well man utd have reached and won the finals both in the late 70s and the unforgetable 99.well maybe we man utd would like to put it this way for you pool fans - You're all talk no action!

yeah! i agree with dime. l'pool all talk no action. and captain steven gerard every season says,"im gonna stay with l'pool, we have a strong team. we have what it takes to win this season's premiership." every year he says that. and he says not moving to other clubs. but in the end.....

I'm sorry, but if you get off your seat high up there in your man utd rocks wonderland, you might actually see liverpool winning quite a number of games in a row. yes.

Zeebra, he almost moved to Chelsea a few years ago, in the end, he stayed. know your facts before talking shit. I'm sure no action is investing loads of money into key players, like Torres, etc. They just need to get a few more transfers right and they can win. in the end what? I'd like to see what other stupid 'facts' you can come up with.

Tim, it's because anfield is a fortress.

what i mean was there are always so many rumours about stevie g moving to other clubs because l'pool is not winning the league...and stevie himself admits he had thought of that before. so..in the end, he still stays. but l'pool still are not premiership champs. wonder how long does he intend to stay on?
and yes, i agree if l'pool buy more key players and rafa stop his rotation policy, i believe l'pool can go all the way only in the premiership.

The rotation policy is good, if done right, and Rafa is doing it right now.
See Torres scored a hat-trick, 6 months ago, he'll still be dropped, but not now.
Liverpool is keeping at least a few players here and there, if you noticed, you can probably tell who the key players, and that they're playing at least 4 out of 5 games, if fit.

we didnt start the fire ...

it was always burning since the world's been turning

we didnt start the fire..

no we didnt light it but we trieed to fight it ...

CL ACTION TONITE BABY!

Bendtner - Late goal shows our true character

Arsenal 1-1 Aston Villa

Barclays Premier League

Emirates Stadium

Sat, Mar 1, 2008, 3pm

By Richard Clarke
Nicklas Bendtner has praised Arsenal's character after his last-gasp goal secured a point against Aston Villa on Saturday.
At the weekend, it looked like Arsene Wenger's side were going to slip to only their second defeat in 50 competitive games at Emirates Stadium.
But Bendtner's goal deep into injury time gave them a point and saw them retain their position on top of the Premier League.
Afterwards the Dane gave his side credit for getting something on a very bad day at the office.
"I thought we did really well," he said. "We kept fighting. It was a difficult game but because we kept going it meant we got what we deserved.
"We always want to fight until the end. That's the way a championship-winning team wants to play and that's what we want to do this season.
"It looked like it was going to be a bad day but it's a 90-minute game so you can score in the last minute as we did. That shows the true character and strength which runs right through the team.
"The season is very long and I'm sure we'll be back to winning ways very quickly now.
"We have been unlucky. Against Birmingham we could have won, against Milan we had chances to have won and against Villa it was a difficult game but we came back."
