'We were the better team and lost the game'

On bad luck during the match…
"I think what is the most difficult to take is that we were the better team and we lost the game. We were in front and had a chance to score the second goal and got punished on two goals. It is beyond belief.

"So overall I would like to keep the positives of this game because I believe that we can deal well with the disappointment of losing the game today. We have a great future and we can be a real force. But of course, it’s difficult to sort out tonight and we go home without any points."
On being sent off at the end of the match…
“I kicked the bottle of water when the goal was cancelled from disappointment and the fourth official called the referee and sent me off. Frankly, I don’t know what to say. Thirty seconds to go. It was really spectacular. I didn’t even know where to go. He told me to go into the stands, but there was no way to get into the stands. Just because I kicked a bottle of water, I didn’t say a word to anybody. And it was quite a good kick."
On Robin van Persie’s cancelled goal…
"I didn’t kick the bottle because Gallas was not offside, but because I was disappointed. I thought we had equalised."
On missing out on a penalty in the first half…
"Maybe I’m not the most objective, but for me I believe it was a penalty in the first half.

On the differences between Rooney’s and Eduardo’s penalties…
"It will be a big difference tomorrow in the newspapers. I don’t know…I have not seen it, I do not want especially to see it. He kicked the ball to the corner flag, Rooney, and after - was he touched or not, was it a penalty or not – leave these decisions to the referee."
On the frustration of not getting any points from the match…
"Football is unpredictable. I believe in this team we lack some calmness, maturity and experience when we were in moments where we were not under panic at all. We assessed wrongly two situations. The first one, Rooney was no danger to score, there was no need to panic. And on the second one as well. There was not one player of Man United around our players. So it’s lack of communication and still little bit I feel in these situations that we might be lacking a little bit of experience."

On the missed opportunities at 1-0…
"We couldn’t finish the game off. You play at Old Trafford you get 1-1 of course. And any mistake and then you’re down. We had the chances to kill this game and even to come back to 2-2."

This ain't much but it's at least something.

"Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been told he can expect an apology from Premier League referees chief Keith Hackett following his dismissal in the closing seconds of Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

League Managers Association chief executive Richard Bevan has spoken to Hackett about the Old Trafford incident which saw Wenger sent to the stands by referee Mike Dean on the advice of fourth official Lee Probert.

On the decision to penalise Wenger, Bevan said: ''Although correct in 'law', it was completely out of context in the game and it was followed by the nonsense which followed over where Arsene Wenger should sit.''

He added: ''I've spoken to Keith Hackett and he fully recognises the situation was an error and an apology will follow to Arsene Wenger.

''Lee Probert totally failed to manage the situation and created a needless pressure point taking the focus away from the pitch in a big event with only a minute to go.''

shouldn't blame diaby for the own goal, he was trying this best to get the ball away from rooney who was just behind him, and might have scored anyways.

Come on man.Dont blame the ref for the lost. You guys didnt take your chances while United did.Its not always the better team who wins. Its about who scores the most goals in 90 mins.

bro - I'm not faulting manu or feeling any kinda resentment to manu at all but the ref & his assistants were clearly idiots .. thats why thechief of refs Keith hacknett gonna formally apologize to Wenger & AFC.

I find it hilarious that celtic had a player sent off for diving over the weekend after their outburst about eduardo.

Its amazing how many people have taken the pompous high ground when they point their fingers at other teams while defending their own team against diving. Diving exists in every team, its whether or not the media or the dimwit commentators highlight such events. And what makes the difference is if the manager of the diver has the integrity to admit or not. So if Eduardo dives, and Wenger speaks out against it, it does not make Arsenal a team willing to win at all cost through cheating. It just shows that Eduardo's actions as an INDIVIDUAL is not accepted by Arsenal. Juxtapose this with another team that wins via a diving penalty, and that said team manager dispels all notions of any cheating offence IF he actually can see clearly that there was indeed a dive, now tell me which team is worse?

Its like as if Eduardo was the first ever player they've ever known to have dived and its so appalling to them that they need to make a big show over it. Thats why I agree with the witchhunt theory pointed out by Wenger. Its as if English players never dive but only the foreign scums do. come on.

At the end of the day, a win is a win.

Yes, it's upsetting all the events & referee's blunders made & all.

Weren't ARSE-nal recently also awarded a rather "dubious" penalty?
