i guess many musician here might want to end up in berklee one day.
bascially y go berklee
- cos it have lots of good equiments
- you get good contacts
- you learn music in a very professional way the pressure and stress from ur peers push you to go furthur

but how hard is it to go in?

for me after completing my dip here i most likely will go NS and i will be 21 den, saving up during NS for expenses and school fees to berklee.hope to go berklee to get a degree.

any experience pple here who enter to berklee before mind sharing whats in that school and what are the virtures they are looking for towards international students.

I will be doing my audition next year. Navigate their site to find out about the audition requirements, but its not all that hard. Modes, 7th + 9th chords, sight reading, ear training and some rhythm work is all you have to do.
Remeber, Berklee has some of the most respected guitar tutors in the world (Tomo Fujita) to name one! I want to go to Berklee because of the people I will meet, and the tuition I will get there. Not to mention the 6 hours of practice a day will do wonders to my playing! Plus the women in Boston are stunning

It is hard to get in, yea, but not impossible. Since last year they have reintroduced the audition to stop the rich kids getting in - everyone has to be able to play. But remember it is still a school, and at schools, you learn. If everyone has to be a Petrucci to get in, it would be a little silly.

I visited the school back in July and it was a fantastic place..buzzing with creativity. :!:

hi,

you are lucky to study music.

I've heard stories of people getting scholarship
and have their tution fees wavied.
So you just have to pay for your lodging.

search on the berklee site on the scholarship scheme.
KL is the SEA office for audition.

GOOD LUCK!

I'm not entirely sure going to berklee will benefit as much as perhaps one of the local schools. I've met people from berklee - and the arrangment they have is...not bad... but I expected something better. Could achieve more if I learn from books and peers here, by just writing etc.

Not to pour cold water. But if you can afford it or got a scholarship, by all means.

Cheez

Anyone could benefit more than any school if they studied 12 hours a day with books and cds etc - technically. Its meeting people, PLAYING with people, playing styles your are not comfortable with, that makes you a better musician.Sure, not everyone who goes to Berklee does this...it would be like me going there and first day to last day only play in Metal bands. Those who jump in the deep end of their uncomfort zone will benefit the most. I look forward to my first R&B/Funk fusion trio, or something like that :?

i also heard of pple being unable to do things although they go to berklee, but i guess learning we have to have the motivation the own desire to do it. other reason to go to berklee is bcos of contacts, imagine getting to see future musician in the world and all isnt it an eyeopener , learn more about music from across the globe and put it into ur music isnt it great?

thats what i feel learning we all can do ourself but to a certain extend we still need opinions from others and how we can furthur improve on ourself. and of cos not everyone who go berklee are great, but at least i guess berklee equip us with adequpt knowledge to prepare us on our futhur obstacles :)

any berklee students here wanna share the experiences ?

CLICK FIVE!

but then... the chances are 50-50 lah...

you can always become another dream theater... say JOHN PETRUCCI!

I think berklee has an online degree too.......according to one of my lecturers...

This way you don't have to worry about lodging.....not exactly sure if its true though........

Yeah.. I hope to go Berklee after my NS too. But to get a career in music, are you sure you need to HAVE a degree from Berklee? I might try getting a MOE Overseas Teacher's Scholarship, and come back to work as a music teacher. Then i could have my degree for a much lesser cost. And also, have a steady job while searching for my big break in music .

If there's any fallacies in my plan, please feel free to point it out. :D

dude...

Western Australian Academic Of Performing Arts..
Try and be a family there after ur NS Tour..
They got an audition on Feb 2007..
