Hey Guys!!

What do u think about this pedal.

The Duallist has won many engineering, design and music accolades, including the prestigious Logie Baird Award for Innovation, and recognition in the Prince Philip Design Awards. It is on display at the NAMM Museum of Making Music in California

Have any of u tried it? How does it stand compared to the dw9000, and ironcobra pedals. Is it as smooth, sturdy?

I think the triple pedal is dang cool haha!!

hehe.. brilliant.. its definitely not cheating to me. technology is to be exploited as much as possible.

wow that's super cool! but then when given normal double pedals you'd look like an idiot cos all you can play is the Duallist pedal. unless at least 90% of the world begins to use it, i think it might be looked on as cheating. i mean it takes hardly any skill. but heck! it's cool. i think i'll stick to heel-toe and normal doubles for practice. though, i think it's really good.

if anyone knows where to get these in s'pore must say!

Nigel of Drum Resources has brought in Dualist pedals.

Tried on the triple pedals the other time. It's very very interesting and fun! But I'm not good enough to do the pedals justice lah. It's very difficult to coordinate 3 pedals at one go lol.

Haha. Hard to control? Means it is difficult to play?
But is it still smooth, or like is the pedal very adjustable.
In the normal double pedal mode, not the duallist mode, is it comparable to the iron cobra's and pearl eliminators?

The dualist pedal can function like a normal pedal, but if the dualist switch is on, then the drummer will need to acquire a new set of skill to play it. To begin with, one should already have a good command over a normal pedal before attempting to play the dualist.

There's a recent product review on this pedal a few months ago by Modern Drummer magazine. It had a good write up on it, go check it out.

Duallist

I personally tried it out la.. with the single pedal only can do 16th's max man.. Nigel's selling $595. It rocks la, but u must find the sweet spot of the footboard, then damn shiok. A bit overpriced, but if you are just looking for the easiest way to play simple doubles, this is a good one.. I am quite particular about the flimsy plastic construction though. Hope it doesnt break.. :S

Well, Technology is always here to ease the work of humankind..

Same goes to musician...

But personally, I see no appeal from this dualist pedal, neither would say its cheating...

Here are the disadvantage..

1: Drummer will have quite a hard time playing different sort of double bass rhythm. I wanna play 1 e + 2 e + 3 e + 4 e +? How do i do that? how about shuffle?

2: Drummer might forgot to switch the transition of single to double bass?

3: Less control of double bass drum in terms of dynamics... i want the downbeat to be louder than the up beat?

4: Drummer will tend to be very dependent on such technology... What if the gig organiser doesn't have the pedal and you just happened to spoil yours?

Disadvantage is more than advantage in my personal point of view and totally beats the whole purpose of being a drummer.. LOL.. Use a DRUM MACHINE INSTEAD if you are so afraid to put in effort of learning drums..

One can use the triple kit, use the left foot to throw in accents OR have the right foot play even notes while the left foot does something funky with the hi-hats or cowbell.
For me, I don't like it because it feels kind of heavy. But it's a very interesting contraption nonetheless.
