I have mixed feelings about his choice of hard ware & finishing but it's his guitar so ...

Guitar is available for viewing at #04-35 Peninsula Shopping Centre Dan Music.

like I said, I have my thoughts about his choice of his choice of finishing & hardware but it's his guitar. I wasnt involved at all in this project of his though.

Its one of the hardest and heaviest woods though ..weighs like a Les Paul ...

it sure looks like a carved top like that takes a lot of work.

i gotta say though...i'm not much into the ornate carved-top thing.

if i owned that guitar its better off stuck to a wall than plugged in to tonnes of crazy shyte thats gonna be whacked at it.looks nicer if it had gold binding just round the sides.

serial ninja... hmm ... then u mite not like my new project - similar carved top body but full swamp ash wood finish

maybe the pictures doesn't do any justice. it looks like its been finished with red oxide antirust.

yes fgl, i totally cannot agree with the color and the hardware... but i can't agree with the "carvings" either. must be a pain to sandpaper all those nooks and corners.

Edder: Yeah, thats why I sold the body in the first place... too much work. Dan told me that originally before he first sold it to me it came with GOLD FLORAL CARVINGS! (wah piang eh) which was done by some local dude but eventually painted over. Unevenness is the wood itself I believe. All was were painted over. Yeah its some kinda red primer with wood stain.

I have kept another piece which is plain wood finish for my next project.
As its really too much work and I dont have the facilities to do paint jobs anymore, I considering leaving it just clear gloss natural.

I'd love to get suggestions from U guys for any possible alternatives though ...

How about spraying some natural gloss or clear satin finish on the background.....and then get an artistic person to paint the carved "flowers" in fancy colours?

everdying - yeah that was my 1st plan

guitarscan - yeah but i thought of doin the inside area of the floral bits, not on the bits itself.

Blewraincoat would be great for this project

man, if in naturale finishing, it wud lookie rather nice imho.

The red colour just scream this old tcs serial where zoe tay acted in, being a vengenceful hantu stuck in a wall that will turn blood red at night cos she wanted revenge on the person who murdered her..

or maybe I coukld try a vintage honey blonde gloss finish with a matching maple neck?
