I've been wanting to get a chorus for awhile now... haven't had the chance/need to try one out yet.

I got both my bass Xciter and Punch Factory from my frd when he's at the states for exchange.

If you have any pals going over to USA for a study trip, please get them to buy stuff for u.

Some pedals are like 1/2 price over there =)

YEAH MAN! ... Music123 retails DOD pedals for like half price compared to what swee lee is offering the Behringer pedals too.

For BOSS pedals you'd be better off buying locally cos it's cheaper here ...

CHERNS - go get the BOSS CE-2B ... the one i'm having now .. you won't regret it man .. seriously ...

yepz =) it earns a perm place in my pedal board for the wonderful lush sound it produces =)

mine too man ...

i'm now eyeing the EBS black label Octabass pedal .. amazing stuff .. but Davis doesn't have it .. costs a whopping 300 bucks for that man .. but it'll be the best octave pedal you'll try ... i'm waiting for them to call me so i can place my order for it ..

hey just curious, what would you use the octave pedal for? like any examples of when you'd apply it?

I use the octave pedals when i want to fatten up my tone. I play in a church worship band so i'm going to talk about some worship stuff, if you dont' understand i'm really sorry but that's the only context so far i use it.

I use the octave pedals mainly for worship songs when the band is going into a more intense mode of playing ... sometimes i find i hit a plateu and i can't go further .. so i use the octave pedal to fatten up the tone to create an additional lower note ...

Other examples when i'm playing solo lines like an bass intro for a song .. i'll use that. Cos my band don't have electric guitarist .. so i need to cover a number of parts that the electric guitar plays .. yep .. that's all i can think so far ..

..

octavers, yeah they fatten up the low end, but at the same time they have this synth-like effect on the sound. real cool. add fuzz to it and u have the Muse Hysteria bass vibe to it.

is it possible to get the muse hysteria soudn with just a fuzz pedal? I tried doing it on my big muff pi and when th elow notes r played fast together they turn into mess

oh okay, I see. no worries man, I play in a church band too actually...among other things but the church band's the most consistent one.

I tried the Boss Super Octaver once, though, and didn't really like it...found it kinda messy...I'll check out others if I get the chance to...

yea same here...

when u octave down, sometimes the amp "flabbers", by "flabber" i mean... it's like how you put a piece of paper in front of a fan and it flaps around making that dumb sound, but what i mean here is this low low pitch flabby sounding tone which sounds abit like what techno arrangers use for their basslines occasionally.

and frankly i'd like to try a double octave up, that might be interesting, cuz sometimes octave ups can just be played using the 2nd and pinky finger and the natural tone of the bass sounds alot nicer than the modified wavelength that comes from the pedal

What octavers are there sold in S'pore that can take 2-note chords? I tried the DOD and EBS ones so far. This sounds sacrilegious but although the EBS tracks good, the DOD has a better octave tone. Moreover my EBS was the old Grey-housing one and the in and out jacks were switched opposite.

Has anybody tried the OC3, EHX 8ve Multiplexer or a Digitech Whammy set to octave mode?

The pedals I've tried so far always have tracking problems below D because my Precision has flatwounds and I think they don't present a very clear fundamental for the pedal to duplicate down.

Advice maybe from the guys who've tried them?

i haven't tried any but ARE THERE octavers (pedals) that can handle two notes at the same time? especially since they rely on the general waveform and modify that?

i haven't tried any of the pedals but yeah i think i had the same problem as you, octaving down the low notes doesnt produce a nice sound.. =(

EHX 8ve Multiplexer can do that. The synthesized tone is just a bit..flubby, is all. But you can't tell when jamming la, and I often run it into an OD so nothing lost there I guess.

Just came back to Singapore for good very ulu la....dunno this dunno that.

oic... wonder how it does that!! chips in a pedal able to distinguish between two different tones and their overtones... or maybe the flubby sound is due to it's inability to reproduce accurate overtones for both notes? mmm...

The EBS Octabass pedal can handle two notes or three, or so they say lah. I just bought it online recently, waiting for it to come to Singapore. hahahah .. they said that it'll octave only the lowest note of the chord.

it's expensive but really good stuff. I'm going to sell my BOSS LMB-3 in the near future and get the EBS Multi-comp ... i think EBS produces good stuff .. the Swedish manufacturers ...

The reason why sometimes it sounds floppy it's because the amp can't handle it. Octavers divides your fundemental note frequency in half and plays that out ... so imagine the lower you go .. it really depends on how your amp can handle it. Normal human hearing range is between 20hz - 20khz ... as musicians, we go through hearing damage so you know what happens next ..

here's mine
