The All-New Ibanez Appreciation Thread

Highly recommend Gotoh bridges.. For only $180 bucks and it is really stable and there's a prominent improvement in tone.. Managed to try one after Shredcow told me about it and it really is nice!

GOTOH bridge for $180? Floyd rose??? cuz from wat i know... their Floyds are around 290...

i was also wondering... does 1 floyd fit all?

I agree that it looks unreal. I asked the owner about the pick ups, He said he swap it for seymour duncans. Asked about the knobs. He says he swap them (I swear I saw them on chibanez Jems) Someone ask about the bridge, he says he swap it for a cheaper Ibby bridge for fear of Edge pro tarnish (altho i swear that looks like a Floyd rose copy or the ILT1 Ibby bridge which if i am not wrong, it doesnt come in gold). The older model uses the Lo-Pro Edge if i am not wrong. Of course, at the same time, please take note of the Ibanez logo on the bridge. But then again, does it really matter if it's real or not? The Owner uses it with the same conviction despite it being a fake or a real one, who are we to question?

i've confirmed with some of the guys at jemsite, its a fake.

its cool if he's cool with using a copy, end of the day he's playing it, but the thing is that he may not know that is a fake,
so i think pointing it out to him is a favour at least. if it was fake, then it wouldn't have come with a edge pro, but since the owner said that he swapped it out, then something is not right also...

a similar copy here: http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f15/is-this-jem-original-83479.html

Doesnt look fake to me,

the ibanez line not reaching the edge of the headstock and the JEM logo being so close to the ibanez is a giveaway.

once again, if the owner is cool, then its cool, just want to point it out to you.

cheers

You know when they make copies of Ibby, it goes to show how much popular it is.

Think about it, who would wanna make a replica of copies of TGM, Cort or Samick etc.?

true true.

TGM has a imitation jem too ok! don't play play sia...saw it at ranking quite a while ago.

TGM is making a replica of JEM, but Ibanez doesn't make a replica of TGM's proprietary models.

So in a way, they are imitating Ibanez, not the other way round :)

can i changed a fixed bridge to a floyd rose on my gax30? anyone help me? and wat pickups are good for the mentioned model?

You can't because there is no space for ur FR to go into because this guitar works like a string thru body construction.

As for pickups, it doesn't matter what guitar u use, but what kind of music u play. The body is made of mahogany, so u can try any pickup config depending on ur music preference.

thanks bro.. my music preference would be punkrock. should i change the pickups? im trying to get better and cleaner sounds when playing riffs.

sorry im a noob at guitar mods. even though my ibby is a low-end one, i still wanna make the best out of it. hehe. my very first ibanez.

Hey I do own the GAX30 also in my earlier years of playing and it is gre8 for punk rock (can strap it low low + light somemore).

I suggest for punk rock, keep the stock neck pickup and go for a Seymour Duncan JB bridge or a Seymour Duncan Invader bridge for that chunky jig-jig-jig-jig kinda tone.

Those 2 are cheap and good :) The Invader may be slightly more expensive than the JB if I am not wrong. Go down to Davis and order yours today.
