the 7string gathering

heh thanks for the compliment.

The UV is a damn fine instrument, but I bought it with the intention of selling.. so it had to go.

That razorback 7 is awesome... RIP DIME!!

I have an Ibanez 1077XL. I use standard 9s for it, because 10s would be stupid. It's a 27" scale baritone neck, and 9s on that one feel like 10s already.

well, the 27" scale actually results in higher tension in the strings to attain same pitch. So, the 9s are subjected to higher stress. They are as hard to bend as 10s on a normal 25.5" scale.

I use 10s on my 6 strings. I can't on the 7, because of the scale.

E on a 27 scale, is like tuning to F on a 25.5.

The distance between the first fret and the bridge of a 27 inch scale is roughly 25.5, I've measured, so it'd definitely be tighter.

btw I do notice that if you use thicker strings, the bigger surface area gives an impression of lower pressure, as the strings will be less "cutting". Thus giving the illusion of little change in tension.

whitestrat, what gauge do you use on the seventh string?

now i understand, because you're referring to tension, not gauge feel...

my RG8 sports a 27" scale length, it doesn't do any tuning that my other 25" necks do...

RG8? 8 string? That's not 27" scale.. I tried it. It's floppy. really didn't like it.

or which one you referring to? the 6 string 27" RG? That's nice!

because i've a spare set of 9-52 (Curt Mangan) to give you, that's why... i bought 2 sets, used 1, but i really prefer a 9-54. rather than letting it rot here, it's yours if you can just PM me your address... 8)
