The sides and back of the Martin X series is made from some kinda wood laminate, the top is solid. Because of that it's a more rugged kind guitar that I wouldn't mind bringing around slung in a gig bag. Appeal is that it has that understated quality about it. Solid tone. Only drawback for me is that at the price range of the X you can get pretty good full solid guitars from other brands, like the Yamaha L series for eg.

I don't worry much about the local humidity with low to mid range guitars. IMO the finish on these instruments make them more resiliant. More worries with delicate high end acoustics and classicals that are much more sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity.

In short, Martin X = good rugged guitar but IMHO overpriced compared with better quality competitors in the same price range.

Oh and I don't think it'll get you that "Martin" sound, but then again I haven't played any of the high end Martins to be able to tell.

Sorry, I'm not much of a crazy bender on acoustics. I liked the feel on the Martin X. Comfortable. Not sure how much more I can comment on it since whether you like the feel on a guitar is more of an individual thing.

Smooth ?? easy to handle for let say a fist timer....like can you just pick it up play your fav tune ??
Coz i had experience with a certain brand that was expensive but felt bad ...like i had to really play it hard... :?

Ah. In terms of being able to pick up up and play without being annoyed at obvious deficiencies, yes. That's what I meant by "comfortable". Nothing bad to say about the feel. They need to change the strings on their guitars at City Music more often though. Ugh at rusty and dead strings. And I'm a bit of an agreessive strummer on acoustics.
