Taufik Batisah apologises for Singapore national anthem error

Say, did Taufik apologize because somebody pointed it out or did he come out to admit it himself?

I didn't read the news.

If he did apologize on his own accord, then it was smart of him.

Maybe he'd be Stomped by those no-lifers Singaporeans for singing incorrectly.

But maybe not, cos a large percentage of us don't even know what exactly we are singing

Taufik wrote 'sad and disappointed' on his FB wall. So i guess something is wrong, and yes, he sang it wrongly. Lucky never kena stomp. if not, KEYBOARD WARS!

Heard it on TV when he sang "Berseru" twice... I was like :???:.. thats a bad boo boo to make.. but I guess nobody actually noticed since i know 90% of the citizens here make the same mistake every other day..

Lol thats the probelm
pri-sec school already make mistakes when singing
imagine youre not singing it everyday after leaving school..
lol

Its really tough to sing in front of millions. So cant blame him for making the mistake. At least he managed to sing the other parts correctly. We should be proud of him.

It's an honest mistake and none of you would have noticed if he didn't apologize anyway.

I did notice. It's just that i don't give two hoots.

He screwed up the part of the lyrics most Singapore citizens would anyways. Heck, I bet majority didn't know there's a difference between 'berseru' and 'bersatu' or wrose, didn't know it was either and always thought is 'ber-salute'.

Anyways, what's all the hype about when it's not wardrobe malfunction? :P

I'd forgive him. Cuz i myself kinda forgot the correct lyrics cuz i havent been singing that song since leaving sec sch mannn. hahaha

i think i'd screw up my lyrics even if i face a thousand people, what more, millions!

oh well, for students who sing it everyday still screw up the lyrics, i guess Taufik's forgiven. if he had done the same at SG idol, he's out.

anyways, reminds me of the time my friend screwed the PLEDGE on ncc day. whole day kena laughed at.

First of all:

He's malay. He should know the lyrics and for him to sing it wrongly is quite lol because even though "most of us" (as so many of you mentioned) don't understand, shouldn't he understand it?

Second:

I understand a lot of you aren't patriotic and don't give a crap. To you it's just a song, it's just some lyrics, just a minor difference in a few letters. But if you are appointed by the country to represent them to sing the national anthem in front of millions of people (including foreigners), the LEAST you can do is sing it right. You don't have to have an amazing voice or vocal talent but get the lyrics right. Isn't that what Singapore(an) Idol has been drilling all along?

Third:

He's a professional singer. What do you mean by he's nervous singing in front of so many people. What the hell is that suppose to mean? That he's not professional?

a lot of people forgive him because they themselves can't remember the lyrics too. Remember that Taufik is 1. a professional, 2. given an important task to carry out, and 3. someone who actually knows the lyrics.

but after that all talk, frankly. i don't give a crap.

Kinda agree with what you say there(:
But well, Singapore idol finalists have yet t hit the mark imo.
in the sense of cd sales and radio hits.

Probably he just got darn nervous. This is the National Anthem he's singing. He's singing to thousands of people live and many more around the world on air. This isn't his song, this is the National Anthem. The whole world is watching him, and needless to say he made a blunder. Not many noticed, and he would have gotten away for it. But he was upfront and apologized even though many here did not even notice it.

Cut him some slack, bro. If it were one of us, I think we'll also make the same mistake XD
