Hey guys,do anyone of you have any idea where to get tamiya scale model cars?Without remote control.Oh and can someone give me some tips on what I need to get first before building a scale model car? Thanks!

I used to build aircraft models and military vehicles using tamiya and other brands like novelle or sth... I don't know where've all of em gone to but.. I've seen one shop around Ubi, next to some Yamaha bike showroom.

One tip? Don't lose a piece :P Air-brush each component before glue-ing them. Well at least that's what I did. G'luck! :p;)

Oo thanks. Its at ubi right?Do I need to get glue/paint or is everything included in the kit?

Paint and cement is not included with kits. All you get in the box is the kit itself. Seeing how you are starting out, I recommend reading up on tutorials on how to build up model kits and what you need first. They're a dime a dozen on the Internet.

Note that I did not specify Gundam or automobile, aircraft, etc. modeling. The basics of scale modeling construction are pretty much the same until you head in the more specialized areas like getting the glossy finish of a car body.

This is my favourite car modeling site.

Just like you, i'm also a newbie to this scale modelling.. Just starting out..

well i don't know any shops/outlet to recommend you but I stumble upon this site (http://www.scalemodelguide.com/) which I find quite helpful for total beginner..

ayw if you found any shops, share it wif us.. i like to know also. :)

Ahh...bring back memories. There is a shop called Morgan at Katong Shopping Centre that sells all these model kits, including Tamiya. I don't know if it's still there. Should be, I guess, and it's 2nd floor. That shop was a pioneer in Singapore and has been around for ages (since late 70's!). It was THE place for model kits back in those days.

If you're looking for shops in a more central location, there's Sunshine Plaza opposite Park Lane which has two shops that would suit most, if not all, forms of modeling. They're M Workshop and Hobby Art Gallery, though HAG is more focused on Gundam kits. Park Lane has a shop in the basement, Achtung Hobby Japan. Miniature Hobby is located in both Marina Square and Vivocity as well. In the eastern and western parts, there's Hobby Point in Century and Tiong Bahru Plaza respectively.

Not since 2005. Stargek, the place being mentioned in the first few posts, has taken over distributorship of Tamiya products from Tai Seng.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but.. Where can I find airfix models? Novelle brand or sth... Tamiya is fine too.

Not easy to find Airfix stuff in Singapore. I recommend this online shop in Hong Kong. Ordered stuff from them several times. Like the service a lot. Prices are good as well.

I have already mentioned in a previous post the better hobby shops in Singapore. They carry a good collection of Tamiya kits and other brands.
