tab problems or ...

Hi. i would like to say that i have been playing for a while now, but i do not know how to advance to the next level of skill.I am just stuck at the same level of skill everyday.

Is this normal?

And i came across a tab like this . --

Am i supposed to jus hit the note while muting the string in the middle of 9and 7?If i am suppose to hit the note without touching the 'middle string' , i found that it is quite impossible to do so.

Can u guys advice me?All helps will be appreciated.

yes, the idea is to mute the string while playing the two notes. usually the middle finger does this job fairly well.

to advance, find something you like that is fairly difficult to play and then practice till you can nail it. then pat yourself on the back rinse and repeat

i would either use my middle finger to mute da strings or i would juz pluck the strings, if they're not lyk for rhythm.

For me I'd sometimes use my first finger to mute middle string by touching lightly with the rest of my finger while the tip frets the (ie.) 7thfret instead of the middle finger.

To advance just find a more challenging song to work on maybe in terms of technique or something. Take it easy and slowly, then eventually you'll realize that you've improved.

i don't think it'll be too gd if u mute with ur middle finger cause u might accidentally press the fret.
wad i'll do is for the A string, i use my index finger.make it such away that is preses the 7th fret of the A string and muters the rest of the strings except for the E bass string.
then for the 9th fret of the G-string(lol).. i use either my ring or my pinky.. i usually use my pinky though. looks more cool.haha
the middle finger i'l use it to mute the bass E string..just let ur flesh touch the string.no need to exert pressure.
when my pinky is used to press the G-string(hhaa..sounds so funny), my middle finger is still used to mute the bass E string but my ring finger can either assist the middle finger in muting the string or just not letting it touch any strings..which way u feel more confortable to play..use that.
