SX Bass

If you like it, it probably doesn't matter what the bass was built for, there's really no such thing as a metal bass or a jazz bass, just personal preference, :D

wat?!ther IS such a thing called a jazz bass..like those 1st birthed by leo fender :p...
hmmm... dude i think he means it as a genre. fender's jazz basses are just in the name. you see metal players playing those basses as well. i mean a precision bass isn't meant only for precision music no?

Ya, its just the name of the bass, ESP has a history with some popular metal players and that in combination with the way some of the guitars look earn them a reputation as a metal players bass/guitar, but you could sure as hell use them for jazz and funk music, just that it would look quite out of place in that environment. :D

ahhh... didn't notice that :P

eventhough all basses if built and setup correctly can play any genre of music, i can't quite picture a b.c. rich on a jazz stage tho...

But The Bass So nice.. lol..

this might be a little out of place but.. if you are looking for a budget bass like an SX... why not consider either an ibanez soundgear (i started with that)? It actually really worth the money. Alternatively, i think a MIM fender Jazz or a Yamaha would make a good entry level bass to start out with too.

But anyway, i suggest investing a little more into your first instrument since it'll probably stick with you for quite awhile untill you find that your skills warrants a better upgrade =P With a nicer instrument, you are likely to feel more inspired to play! haha...

Also, a more recognised brand will lead to better re-sale value thus it can still fund your future purchases!

So, have youuuuuu decided what youuu want? :D

slapadelic: i agree with you on finding instruments with good resale value =) most likely less people will buy 2nd hand esp [let's say arraya's sign model],prolly a fender, musicman or rickies will have a beter chance yea

haha... yeah man. I do think luck plays a part in selling your gear off too. Sold my last two basses, an ibanez and a yamaha at decent prices too! haha..

PsychedeliC:

The fitting of the string on the nut might not be sitted well. You can either try to re-file it down so the string sits better (assuming its not sitted in deep enough) or just go out and get another nut! (hahahaha... pun not intended).
