switching from les paul to stratocaster

Hello guys, I'm currently playing an epiphone les paul but I have decided to go back to my squier strat... it is MUCH more easier to play. With the slimmer neck and everything. Yeah, the pickups on my squier sound kinda crappy... I'm considering changing the bridge pickup, or is a squier strat too "lousy" to upgrade? Looking for something that can handle classic rock... zeppelin songs specifically. Haha. I know its damn weird, its easier to go with the les paul tone... but the playability. Bleah. Yep, I was thinking about the lil' 59. Any personal experiences? Please enlighten! Thanks :D

P.S. Benjamin if you see this don't flame me

personal take:

the LP & strat serve different needs tone-wise. they also appeal to the player differently in terms of feel. however, i do note that there is largely a dichotomised allegiance when it comes to these 2 guitars, however, in terms of needs, it's always wise to own both.

i hope you do not give one up to fully embrace the other; love them both, they'll love you back.

if you love LP's tone, then sad to say that you won't get it with a strat (and vice versa). If anyone claim they can get strat tone in LP or otherwise, either he's lying or never play with both.

So yeah, don't expect your strat to sound like LP by installing lil59 on it. They are just two different animal. By saying this, i'm not saying it will sounds bad

didnt jimmy use a les paul too? after using his tele? he also had his double neck gibson.... nice...

A project I just carried out this week:

This is a TGM strat (1-1-1) guitar 2nd hand came to me, with a tarnished pickguard and poor condition. I thought why not, just upgrade it to a FAT Strat instead and refurbish it too. I am quite pleased with the result. The pickguard and humbucker is brand new part. I also cleaned off the logo (not shown), now I got a one of the kind custom.

The cost of the parts and installation included, came to much cheaper than the cost of the lil 59, hotrail pickup cost by itself, before installation. The pickup selected is a high output korean made zebra humbucker, similar to SD distortion pickup. All coil leads is there for you to mod to coil tap, phase change, split....etc.

Other upgrade was vol pot change to 500K. I still got one more set of exactly the same upgrade kit, do mail me if you keen. Note. the pickguard is not white, lite green 3-ply (teal green i think). Very unique.

You are welcome to come try out the guitar in the pic, unless I sold it. Maybe this is the beginning of 'mikemann custom shop'.....heehee
