swee lee's pricing policy.....

hey fellas out there..

i remember posting something about davis quite sometime back and my thread was removed.. haha.

anyway. i really advise all you guyz to try buying stuff online, or at least check out the prices first, either thru other online dealers or with the two dealers we are talking about here. to me service is nevertheless priority. but why upset yourself with their attitude? if they are able to give u good price, grab and go. if they keep telling u its coming its coming its coming, well, their business may be too good to entertain us and so we just F-Care them. hey - they don get our money isnt it?

i missed the time when people like dino was around. straightforward discount, yes is yes, no is no. no bull shit.

and yeah, i hate the term "shipping". ship my little brother.

stay cool fellas.

oh yah, i always go to SL's website to research on the price before i take the bus to go there. whenever i ask about the price at BB, the salesperson always quote a higher price than the website. yeeeah.. i'm noob, i always assume they never update their website, therefore the price is not accurate so i pay more. but after reading this thread..whatttttttttt?????? i am thinking is it a problem where the sales ppl are not sure of the price themselves? i remember the salesperson checked the price from the computer when i asked about a particular item, and it costs higher than the website, even though she said she had given me a discount.

by the way why was sunny guy kept talking about guitar stores at U.S??? this is sweelee, singapore..

justin_

they quote higher cuz u have to add the item to cart on de website to see the right price... the website price not inclusive of gst... other than that i checkd the prices the other day yea... they are pretty much de same if u add 5% gst to the web price

yea man when u goto Davis, they r all smiles and so pleasant i was really happy, but trying waiting for something or ordering something through them or leaving something with them...hell on earth :x

ah.. swee lee salesperson.. i donno abt the new staff.. but the old swee lee staff i deal with, like jumaat, rahman, johari(factory).. they give me time and choices to listen to the guitar when im buying Ibanez Prestige that reach $1000++ altough i came with ITE shirt with ite pants.. what im trying to say is that some staff look down on customer especially young customer... :? *this thing do not only happen at swee lee only*

nysk:"they quote higher cuz u have to add the item to cart on de website to see the right price... the website price not inclusive of gst... other than that i checkd the prices the other day yea... they are pretty much de same if u add 5% gst to the web price"

thats not the case in my expirence, even with gst, the sa220fm i was qouted verbly by this malay stuff during my expirence with him at sims drive, his verbly qouted price was way higher than the website. look at my orginal theread stater, i remeber i was being qouted something like in the region of 1k, even with 20% discount......... but i dont see that guy around already, probalbly some temp, they seemed to have a loud agrumment with the slightly blad(middle age) malay guy who is always working there. when i was there tad time, i remeber he was screwing him for his work performance related stuff.

for me, when i asked 1 of the salesperson, he immediately take calculator show me how he get the figure. i thought it was realli a good service, at least he bothers to explain.

I have also had some really really bad experiences with Davis and so has DemonoftheFall....IT IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN SINGAPORE.

There have always been complaints before about how the old man was rude, but fact of the matter-he gives true information about what Davis can do for you.The rest of the staff in Davis is appalling...You tell them you want to buy a really expensive amp and then they tell you sure stock is coming in next week ... and that they would call as soon as it arrives..you call two weeks later they say wait two more weeks...there have been cases where they have lied and made people wait for 2 months+...not only do they lie but they also keep telling you they willcall you back when they never do.(ps.the guitar tech is horrible, never give your guitar there for a setup etc)

i ordered my PRS & Music Man SUB1 guitars from Davis. yes they do forecast the arrival of my guitars & promised to get back to me when the goods touch down here in SG. yes, shipping was delayed several times but they did get back to me personally to address the matter. i finally got what i wanted depite having to wait longer than the assured date.

on occassions when i bought amps, the people @ Davis made it a point to accompany me to the taxi stand with the back-breaking goods.

the problem with people here is that they get prior background of how certain people in certain shops are & then proceed to those places treating the salespersons according to how they were advocated to be (alleged warts & all), instead of treating them without prejudice.

i'm not defending any guitar shops in particular or down-playing any forum members here for their attempts to be cautious but there's always the flipside to it all.

As everyone has mentioned before, heng sway. Not all the staff are bad for sure, only some spoil the broth. I've been to most of the shops and more often than not, sometimes its good or bad, depending on who serves me. Of course if they recognise you, then most of the time its quite good.

As someone else has also mentioned, do your homework before going down. If one staff quotes you a price which is absurd, ask another one or better still, the manager in store. As the paying customer, you have the right to know, of course that doesn't give you the right to be impatient or impolite. I find things can be worked out if the environment is friendly.

I agree with subversion's view, although I personally did not find the service there spectacular, many others have. Thus this reiterates the point that you can get good service at any of these places, provided of course what I've said.

Sometimes i jus feel that it takes both ends to balance. I've read so much in this forum and seems like every fault is coming from all seller more then anything else. I've done some self reflection and tried to observe my own attitute when i buy stuff from shops.

Recently, i went back to get a Nokia phone and coincidentaly, i was attended by a Customer Officer which i had a huge brawl some years back. I was surprise that first of all, he don't reconised me. Second of all, everything seems so smooth sailing. Then on a few counters away, another customer was having a brawl with the CSO... And from my view, the customer was arrogant, ignorant (of terms and conditions) etc.. keep insisting his 'Rights' bla bla bla..
So when I got home, I started to recall my first experience with my CSO and I have to admit, I was then , pretty much a dick and expect things to go my way with ppl bowing to my stupid nonsense. And that didn't actually get me very far. This time round, having being a more understanding customer (age plays a part I guess..), the deal was 100 times more pleasant then the 1st....

Like i mentioned, how many of us, actually sat down and thought about our approach in the first place? Don get me wrong, i'm not saying that all customers are wrong, but jus sharing some of my thoughts, that's all. I believe some CSO are real big Ass but not all lar.
What i also have encountered is that Today's Swee Lee and the Swee Lee 15 years ago are so much different. Now I at least get to touch and try the gears.. hahaha.. last time, aiyo,,, can only ask but not touch.

i see more rude buyers than salespersons. sharing some rude/ ignorant remarks i heard in stores:

*Wah, i buy expensive guitars still no free strap, come on lah!!

*This is a Korean/ Chinese/ Mexican (delete accordingly) product, it shouldn't be more than $1K!!

*My son/ daughter is a student, you're over-charging him/ her!

*Why are the strings rusty, you're cheating me is it?

yadda, yadda, yadda...

I guess you have to be a sales person serving every kind of customers then you will really knows how a sales person feels when he or she is serving you.

this is the reason why i applaud learning institutions with job attachment offerings. if you're one of them, you'll know them better.

subversion:what can i say..you were lucky...as for people getting notions from my comments and walking into a shop wiht prejudice in their minds  well im sorry....Im not gonna keep my opinions to myself so that people dont get influenced by them...
I was more than nice to the guys at Davis ..I went there because I was so sick of sweelee...when i went there...the service was totally awesome....twothumbs up...but the minute you wait for stock to come in or any sort of correspondance....there u go....everything in the gutter... :D

Fine if you dont correspond...I will call you...but heck...dun temme ur gonna call in that nice airhostessey voice and then forget about it completely...thats my point... :x

similarly with "delay" in arrival of products...if they aint gonna arrive....just say ok its gonna take more time, why keep saying oh its gonna come in two weeks...and then it finally arrices after 10 weeks...

dont tell me authorised dealers have no clue when shipments of companies are released :P

but i check the site for the boss metal zone...its 180...when i gt there they tag was 200++but i asked the guy he sold me @ 120....im confused..
