He writes Chinese songs and he is brave/crazy enough to launch his album ONLY in Singapore even when given a chance to go overseas. thus making him one of the very few indie solo artistes who releases his Mandarin debut album here, independently. Respect!

YET 叶敦鸿 has been in the music industry for many years and he also has a very well-known Lyrics coach, Xiaohan, 小寒, ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XiaoHan ), also he has 2 very well-known Melody coach , Eric Ng 黄韵仁 & Jim Lim 林倛玉
( http://www.fmmusic.com.sg ).

Arts has always been part of YET's life. At the age of 12, YET has already started to pen original songs with his limited vocabulary and some knowledge of music theory. Yet was also a column cartoonist of Lian He Zao Bao Fu Kan for a period of time. He had also been writing and contributing articles to Chinese newspapers. Besides, he used to be regular participant in several Singing Competition and Songwriting competition. He used to be lead vocalist in a band and was a baritone with Metro Philharmonic Youth Choir. YET has also performed at several Charity events, D&D, weddings and corporate functions and school events. For a period of 6 years, he has been one of the key performers at MusicDreamer Cafe. YET plays the guitar, piano and drums and is also well verse in lyrics and melody writing. A graduate with Bachelor Degree in Arts and Social Sciences, majoring in Social Work and Chinese Language in NUS, YET is currently a social worker handling children and youths issue.Music has always been his first passion, been thru ups and downs and now finally his personal debut album!

His Pre-launch Single - NO PROBLEM , 沒有問題 has been played over the radio stations. And the station DeeJays has been showing him alot of support which is the greatest encouragement for local artistes!

For those who are into Chinese music , those who support the local music scene , those who knows YET , those who dunno who is YET and wanna find out more about him , those who wanna check out this guy's music, PLEASE show your support by checking him & his music out at his album launch!

how is it an act of bravery to stay put when there is opportunity to expose yourself to a larger market?

regardless, all the best!

Hello Visa,

There are many factors to why some people wanna start off from Home Ground.. Personally, I think YET is a very grounded person. Being an Indie artiste is all about you & performing your music, coz if it's music from the heart, I think only the person who wrote it feels he can perform it best. If YET went abroad, he might not have a chance to sing his own songs, Or he has to sing other people's songs.. etc etc..That's what I think lah.. wad say you Visa?

My dearest Visa don't kuku la hahaha...
Just salute him for wanting to start in home ground I guess.
Maybe he has his sets of principles...

Anyway, good luck...
(but next time is time for overseas coverage! Just rmb come back lol.)

Muchos respect to Yet!

its really never easy for being indie chinese singer locally. Infact, i find its much much harder then being in a english bands.

Anyone who listen or aware of the chinese music side, compared to the english bands side prolly can see it.

agreed 100%. media coverage of local indie chinese music scene is almost non-existant.

anyways, i believe this album (or was it a demo?) was reviewed in one of the local chinese magazines some months ago .... there was even a free giveaway of this album if i didn't remember wrongly

It's like The SunS trying to sell their song "Charlene" for other people to sing, the whole meaning of the song is lost.. I think YET is on that track ... anyways the album is about he himself..

It's the Single that he is giving away I guess. Its his FULL album launch on 20th..

TizzyBac & PatheinRaindropMoe... You peepz have very supportive comments! Dankz!

wah sorry to be ignorant,
but i cant even recall myself knowing what chinese indie is omg.
So like him out here lets me get a better understanding...

maybe he is the start of a trend/cult....;)

anyway i wish him well in his endeavours. since he's gone this far i bet he has the energy to make it!

jiayou then!

(eh can he see all of these? can make his day tml morning lol.)

Aye, actually I think the market for Chinese music is bigger. People like Sun Yan Zi and Lin Jun Jie are like Superstars in this region. I can't say the same for any English singers.

True lah twiztedjoker..Chinese Market is more promising in SG. So its either you get signed by a record company OR you go Indie..

English music is like competing with the whole world whereas Chinese only China, Taiwan etc etc..
