suggestions for a new guitar

hey guys....
im planning on buying a new guitar, and i thought i'd ask for some suggestions..
i tried harmony-central.com...one of the major musicians websites in the world and the guys there were so unhelpful...anyway...my budget is sub-S$1000..
im mainly looking at ibanez...i was looking at the JS100...bt thats a bit over 1000, and also i hear its not that great.the trem system isnt so good and stuff..
im very much looking into the S320 also by ibanez...coz wat im looking for is a rock guitar, to suit my style of play (satch, vain, dream theater) and i need a double locking trem system....the S320 has the ibanez ZR system which is supposed to be fantastic..
my questions are: anyone here own the JS100 or the S320? comments please!
any suggestions as to wat guitar i can buy, other than these two? so next time i walk into a store i can look for something specific....
also, where can i look to buy these? im new in singapore, and the only place i know of is swee lee and one more music store...any places to look for used guitars? if i see a good deal on a JS1000 used, or something similar, i might really like to go for that...thanks again, in advance..please reply!
 
the s470! ZR trem, and, THE QUILTED MAPLE ones are in at sweelee!! More than a thousand tho..but its worth it!! you should really give it a swing...i know i love mine :)
 
thanks..will check it out...might be a bit over my budget though..ive heard about the S470...but does it only come in like..blue and an orange shade?
sorry if this is cliche but im looking for one that comes in black :D
 
the current crop of S470 has no black on offer but the S320 is very black indeed:

yeah well, the S320 and the S470 is all about the same...except for the single coil...and trust me...the quilted maple is simple AMAZING!!

it looks terrific, gotta tell you tho,i was kinda dissapointed when i couldn't find one...but i ended up getting an orange one which is real rare :)
 
thanks guys..yeah, i'd actually like to have the single coil in between as well..
thats a very ibanez-style thing, great variety of sounds possible with it..
ah well..thanks for the S320 link..
im sure the quilt top on the S470 is great, but thats one of the things that gets the price up :D
 
that link says the pickups are better than expected but still not great...
well, i plan on fitting in a couple of dimarzios in, i think it should sound great then...right now, this looks like the guitar for me...
any place where i can look for second hand guitars? how much do u think a second hand JS1000 would be? quite a lot, im guessing..

does anyone know which model ibanez guitar this is?
is there a site (maybe on the ibanez site) that lets u use the serial number to check the model or something? the owner isnt sure which model this is, but says its a high end S series guitar, made in japan...and a bit old...i was expecting to spend a bit less if buying a used guitar, but this seems good

Well, there is goodness in the MIJ build quality.

While the TRS trem is... questionable... apparently, some users have reported that the TRS on some MIJ Ibanez guitars are good. Key word is "some". I've never seen/used a TRS of good quality though.

As for the pricing... ah well.

yeah, i think i'll pass on that...i spotted a S320, a year old..without pickups...going for S$400...not a bad deal, i thought..need to check if its still available though..coz i was anyway planning on replacing the pickups with dimarzios...
 
About the JEM555, it'll most probably be above your budget, so I think it's a no-go. It comes with Dimarzio Pickups (Evo humbuckers and singlecoil) already though, if you wanna know more about it. I'd try to go for a 2nd hand RG550 or Prestige RG thats within your budget.

thanks ^ ^ yeah the JEM 555 is goign for 1.2k, over my budget...
im trying to contact the seller about the S320 without pickups but no response yet...maybe its sold already
 
ah its already sold..
maybe i'll think about the brand new S320..swee lee has it for 720...good price, i'd say..
 
thanks for ur help...i got an ibanez S320 from swee lee today..i played a JEM jr before this, and thought that sounded good...a used one at G77, for 550...but ive read bad reviews on that, especially on the trem system...the S320, i loved it immediately..and ive read all good stuff on it so i was assured ..thanks everyone, for ur input
