Suggestion for electric guitar

Hi, am looking for an electric guitar that is well-rounded but maybe leaning more towards playing metal, prefer a fixed bridge ibanez guitar.
Budget is flexible($400-$700) but willing to spend alittle more if its worth it. cause i will probably use it for a long time before buying another 1.
i mostly listen(but not limited) to bands like Metallica, X japan, Guns N Roses and AC/DC.

thx! :D

my rg450 mij. no kidding. haha.
well good choice on the ibanez's but why have a fixed bridge when you can have a fr one? anyway if you wanna buy my guitar... you can always pm me :D

damn is this shameless promotion or what?
oh ya my guitar can play all those bands you listen to, X Japan is my main influence

thx for the offer! :D but i prefer a 1st hand 1 for personal reasons
as i'm still a newbie in guitar stuff, the fr seems to complicated for me and i prefer something simpler

I suggest to get a friend or someone who's well versed with a guitar. Bring the guy and go try some used guitars out.

You can get the person to check the quality and condition of the guitar.
If there are any parts that need changing etc, and also one who knows whats the used price of a particular guitar.

Why buy used?

There are a few reasons

a) If you're just starting out, your tastes might change, maybe even in just a few months
b) The person before you have already factored in depreciation of the guitar
c) The money saved can buy you a better amp
d) You're very likely to change guitar after 2 years, very often less
e) 80% of the time, you'd ding and scratch the guitar after 3 months of constant playing anyway
f) Brand new guitars in singapore are generally overpriced

So unless you already have been playing a while and know exactly what you want, I suggest you buy used. You can start saving to buy a guitar that fits your needs better in the future. A guitar isn't like a house where you find one that's nice then move in and live there for 30 years. Its like a power drill, where if you find that it isn't drill through steel sheeting 3 cm thick, you get a more powerful one. Something of that analogy.

But if you still decide to buy new, drop by standard value and check out Mike's guitars. Most of his stuff are cheap, but they're worth it.

I'd also recommend the Ibanez RG321MH.

LadyInTears: Some metal players do prefer fixed-bridges, me included. Probably because we tend to change tunings every now and then and prefer something that's simple and easy to re-string. Fixed-bridges are a whole lot simpler.

thx for all the suggestion so far!:D

lightice: ya i've been playin for quite awhile now and this is not my 1st electric guitar

subversion:I was also considering the RGR321 and the RGA series.

i am also looking around the SA series, any comment on those? :)

The Ibanez SA series are my favourite series by Ibanez, because they're really versatile and really comfortable. You can play jazz and blues all the way to brutal death metal with the SA series. My bandmate tried an SA160 and was disappointed with its build quality and tone, so you might want to check out the other models instead.

Good!

Go try them out at sweelee. You'd be able to find out one that you like.

Just try as many as you can, and leave any preconceptions behind.

Have fun and good luck.
