erm..wondering if it's posible that the electric guitar would be able to subsitute as a bass guitar just by playing the first 4 strings?

lol i used to ask the same question when i was younger...

nope...

the bass and the guitar have their differences. the 4 strings used on the bass are of a different gauge (bigger and thicker) and tuned a whole octave down. the strings on the guitar cannot sound like the bass.

cheers.

why would u want to make an electric guitar sound like bass? i mean,u CAN play bass parts with electric guitar...it'll sound cool usually..but to substitute bass with electric guitar..is kinda outrageous..

heh, it can be done, but the money spend be enough to buy a cheap bass and play.

Anyway if still interested, roland guitar synth is the answer. Using the guitar and synth mix setting, one is able to blend slapbass/fretted bass/fretless bass/double bass tone with the guitar part. It sounds better than individual octave pedal imho, but still lacking in certain organic feel, compare to a real bass.
