hi, have u all ever been stuck while practicing ur insturment?
as for mi, i play the guitar...trying to practice twice or even thrice the load as before because i realise im too far behind left behind. worse, im going to army next mid year....
thus i beginning to feel lost... dunnoe wad to practice,etc... shud i perfect a song first , or learn new songs to brush up my technics, or i shud just concentrate on scales?etc....
it has been a long time since i get into such situation... have any of u all have such experence before, like dunnoe how to carry on?
do u all have any ideas for mi to get over with this?

thanks

hey dude. sorry for not being a guitarist but i do suffer the same 'syndrome' too.

usually during a short period of time..wat ever i practice seems so stale and boring.. no originality.. no groove.. just boring stuff.. and it gets in the way of my drumming mood.

well. whenever this happens.. i usually go back to my rudiments which are the basic strokes of drumming. e.g single strokes. double stroke roll. blah blah blah

so i guess.. the same concept should work for u.. when ever you're stuck. just go back to the basics.. which i assume should be ur scales and stuff.. legato, hammering.. I DUNNO!! haha

Well there are a couple of ways to approach this "syndrome"... Which is more effective depends on your character, you could do as drummer-buah said and go back to the basics (work on your picking technique, legato playing, etc) or you could try doing something more fun which may (or may not) motivate you to improve such as learning songs (start easy, move up in difficulty). Set yourself goals, get organised but don't get too ambitious and I'm sure you'll see yourself improving soon enough.
