strumming problems

i have a major problem when it comes to acoustic...i always catch myself playing a certain song with the same stupid strumming pattern over and over,and eventually,whatever new song i play,i always try it out with the same irritating strummnig pattern...

and when i try my best to freestyle,its almost impossible...

does anyone have this problem,and can anyone tell me how to be able to get a new strumming pattern every single time i pick up my acoustic guitar to practise?

hmm well me too... sometimes i try following the original strumming to a song. the next day, it'll revert back to the way it was.

probably you just need to get the hang of it on changing strumming patterns. Keep practicing. You'll get it soon.

haha dude..that happened to me last time.I would say,listen more to the song,familiarise yourself with the strumming pattern and try to apply it.

try to split up the strumming into 2 parts : the bass (when you are more in contact with the bass strings) and treble (and vice versa) bits

then alternate the playing of both parts as you deem fit
you could try using a different playing style, instead of hitting all the strings, just roughly hit a few, so that you dont get tempted to revert back the old playing rhythm
