Hey dudes,

wanna ask what strings are u guys on? Both Electric and acoustic. Trying to get some reviews from diff players to share their experiences on diff types of strings. Im still trying to find an acoustic string that's not so harsh on the fingers..

Go for a lighter gauge if you find it literally harsh. If its harsh sounding, try other brands of similar gauge and find the best you like. I like daddarios. Cheap and good. EJ's work out fine.

I use Elixir strings. both on my Electrics and my Acoustic. Polyweb. They last long and they sound good to me (y)
Electric its .10 - .46
Acoustic would be .11 - .52

Harsh meaning your fingers hurt after you play? If that is so, then it USED to happen to me all the time man! But after hours of practice each day my fingers grew used to it and it doesn't hurt at all now =)
But sometimes my fingers do feel a little pain when the strings have rusted badly, maybe that's your problem?

D'Addario regular 10s work just fine for me. Used to use GHS, but didn't like the way they broke in as compared to the D'Addarios.

D'Addarios are my go-to strings every time i need something familiar at my fingertips. i especially like the EXP- great tone, handles aggression well, he he...

I currently have GHS boomers on my electric. I've tried Pyramid and Ernie Ball Slinky before, but I like the tone that the boomers is giving me. Its super twangy to my ears but not too bright, somewhere in the middle. But I still have yet to try more brands of strings.

For acoustic, I have a set of Dean Markley Helix HD. The feel of the strings was somewhat smoother, but if you tend to play the whole fretboard, there'll be times when you feel slight burn on your fingers. But I still got to give credit on the super bright tone. The strings also gives a more resonant tone. After couple of weeks first attached to the guitar, the strings still felt as though it was brand new, and the fresh tone was still there.

After using few different brand of strings, I find elixir to be my favorite, sweet tone, durable, consistent in quality and it last really very very long.

if you don't like to change strings often, elixirs are the way to go. my preference is Nanoweb 12002 .009 - .042. For like $15, you can't go wrong.

Agree! I used to buy GHS strings, and they kept breaking out of the blue. Not just one but pack after pack had the same problem. Mostly it was the Boomers (electric) and the Bright Bronze (acoustic) strings that somehow can't tahan my playing. Never had this problem with other brands. I like Dean Markleys too actually.

Thanks for all the replies..tried the Elixirs for my accoustic and sounds nice allrite! Another quick question, issit possible to change the setup for an acoustic guitar like lowering the action?
