String through bridge vs string through body

Does anyone one know what is the advantage of basses which are string through body, although most bass are string through bridge?

Tried both on the same bass before, made no real audible difference to me. Only thing it achieved was making it a tad more difficult to restring.

based on what I have read so far. string through bridge = more sustain. I dont think it makes are real sudible difference on the tone.

whether a bridge is good only depends on its design. not by its mass or whatever. string through body is supposed to be a better, more sturdy design than strings through bridge. supposed to help the guitar resonate or whatever. supposed to. whether or not it really makes a diff, compared to other factors, is another matter. most of the time they are not options on a model, so i dont think many ppl really bother.

im using a hipshot vintage bridge which allows me to remove the ball end of the string without having to thread the entire length of string through the hole. a string through body bass would surely be more troublesome
