im using the DRs 9s now...and thinking of changing to the gauge 10s . If i change the gauge, must i like do anything to the trussrod or any major adjustments?

Are you using a Floyd Rose? If you are, you'd probably need to adjust the springs at the back. I just changed my string gauge not long ago, and with some help, did up the springs and all to perfection.

You'd need to adjust the truss rod if your neck is not straight. You should change the strings first and then check if the neck is straight.
But actually, I prefer to have a bit of relief on the neck.

And the saddle too, thicker strings'd probably afford lower action, so if it buzzes(and it bothers you), then up the saddle.

ic ic. well i dont use floyd rose so i guess its alot mroe easier.

i have no diea how to adjust the truss rod thou.. is there a site i can elarn from? or shld i send it to a shop?

tell us exactly what guitar this set is gonna be in, maybe some of us have some experiences. some guitars do not react adversely to a string gauge change.

well im using a tony iommi epiphone sg.yea.. and i had my neck straightened by beez about a month ago when it was still on the DR 9s. now the strings have burst and wana change to 10s.

As said, check if it's straight.
One way is to capo or simply fret the first fret, fret down bassE's 14th fret and look at the 6th fret.
If there a gap between the bassE and the A string at the 6th fret, it means your neck arching upwards (up-bow).

Tighten the truss rod to eliminate relief, vice versa. The greater the gap, the more you turn.

But do it a little by little. It usually doesn't require more than an eighth of a turn to fix the neck.

I hope it helps,

Phil, do note, if baobaojon's guitar has worn frets, even slightly worn, having an uber straight neck will result in buzz/rattle in the middle of the fretboard. Then to get rid of that do what? Raise the bridge?

There's no sure fire way to set action.

Okay, so it's a case by case scenario.
But actually sometimes a little buzz doesn't matter.
