String Gauge

how do i check

i just fixed it. and tuned. if theres no buzz. should that be a green light to show its ok?

There would never be any buzz if you up the gauge. Cos you've just made the neck bow a bit more. What will happen is that your action will change. It'll increase. You have to turn the truss rod to have a bit more backbow, then refit the strings. It's almost a trial and error thing, unless you have experience. But don't do this yourself if you've never done it before. Turning the truss rod wrongly or too much can damage a neck. Bring it to a tech.

heavier gauge will cause floating bridge isnt it?

Not really. A floating bridge is one that is meant to float. I think your'e talking about the standard traditional trem being raised. This can be sorted out by tightening the springs in the body cavity. If it's a floyd rose, then you have to tighten it all the more, because the bridge is set by balancing tension on both sides.

Hmmm...........for acoustic guitars i tink its a little diff...........u cld pm whitestrat, see if he knows cos i'm clueless.
