String buzz on lousy amp

I just bought an Ibanez guitar recently for about 500 bucks but when i tested the guitar at the shop with their better amps of around 300-400 bucks, it was all right, however when i played my guitar at home with a budget amp, there was buzzing from the e, a and d strings. I tried to raise the strings but there are still buzzing, and i even went back to the shop to ask them for help but when they tried it on their amp it sounded all right. Is there anyone who could help me with this? Is it bcos of my amp? And i saw a few threads about bringing the guitar to guitar techs like beez to repair it for some money but isit worth it? Thx =)

I'm using some amp no one ever hear b4 de, last time i got it in a package, some G/O amp...it buzzes when i fret it, den dunno y on their amps cannot hear buzz on mine can..does amps affect it?

it buzzes on ur amp, when fretted, but not on "good" amps....

check:
does it buzz of every fret?
are you really playing the same way with both amps? lol skali u see lousy amp, u anyhow fret.
try another guitar, borrow friend or what, test on your amp. got buzz?
have u had buzz with ur previous guitar?

if buzz every fret, you've really got some serious string action issues(sent to beez, mike etc) or (if every guitar buzzes on that amp) the amp is serious shitty or spoilt.

ya i tink i need to send it to mike since i leave in the west, it buzzes from the 1st fret on the e a and d strings to around the 9th fret.

I think your guitar has string rattle. Full Stop. Just that in the shop, you probably played louder, and it's not that audible. At home, when you play softer, (the kind of volumes where it's pointless turning on the amp) then you hear more of the buzzing.

Wound strings do rattle. Plain strings do too, if they're too low.

It's not the amp or the guitar. It's you.:mrgreen:

I agree with the above post.

Amps do not buzz by themselves, the amp is just manifesting what you're 'feeding' it from your guitar.

If your guitar is buzzing or rattling, naturally it'd be reflected as so by the amp. Playing at home, in a quiet place, reveals a lot more than in a noisy guitar shop. Or, in an arena or on stage, where you'd not be able to hear your fret-buzz/rattle, so if you think about it, it's no longer such a big deal.

But if it affects your playing, then do get it fixed.

Sometime, the amp causes things to vibrate in the room. Which elicits a horrible vibrating noise, which can be mistaken for some fault in the equipment.

It could be your style of playing, or your sensitivity... sometimes being a little over sensitive when not knowing the real problem can be a problem in itself.

String rattle is not the same as string buzz. It's when the string simply vibrates to the point, the amplitude is large enough and hits the frets. It doesn't impede tone nor sustain. Common misconception is that the rattle is the same as string buzz, which is supped to impede tone and sustain.

If it is string rattle, then he's being overly sensitive. Isn't he the problem then?

Not the way he's picking either. if by picking soft, the problem occurs, then by picking hard, it'll be even worse. It's more about reacting to the smallest problems when there might not even be one. Then again, that also comes from experience, and knowing what really is a problem and what isn't.

String buzz and fret buzz should be the same thing. The way to tell the difference is that the sound you get from picking the strings is "buzz". Not that rattling jangly metallic sound you get from strings hitting frets.
