Steve Vai's pickups on Tender Surrender

the jem he used is called "EVO" as u can see it written under the bridge... its his fav guitar.. and named after the pickup "EVOLUTION" in which is in all position...

so.. the pickup is dimarzio evolution.. but its written in some webby.. u cant totally get the same sound as the "EVO" even u have all the same settings... and also written tat when his guitar tech threw away his old evolution pickup to switch to a new one as the old one abit faulty... vai went back all the way and search the garbage for the old evolution pickup... so i think there some kind of diff thingy made tat is diff from wat we see or use today....

haha ok cool stuff. thnks.

sounds like another van halen  . His pickup isnt even suppose to be working! lol.

Wah Alchemist....u makes me wondering what kind of pickups do Mr. Edward Van Halen use...I really love some van halen songs like can't stop loving u and when it's love....

Van Halen actually uses a hybrid.. its a hybrid of the old neck pup from his Gibson 335 and something tt i've forgot.. he rewired the pup and repotted it.. i was reported by him tt he pulled the pup up just in time b4 the whole thing was melted away.. it was his first time that he tried potting a pup.. or say modifying one! some apparently rumoured that his pup could even be a single coil with one of the pup not working.. thus when measuring as a humbucker it fails to give a reading..

I have that dvd. All the videos on them were guitar-synched, so to speak. As in, they played the tracks from the cd, and the band pretended to play, according to those tracks.

Tender Surrender was recorded with a strat copy. It's all on the extras in the dvd. Alien love secrets is the title, if I recall.

btw.. imo.. steve vai's tone is easier to achieve then eddie's..

but again.. if u dun have the technique.. den no point..
haha..

yah eddie's tone is 1 of kind . with all the wierd stuff he does with his gear,i doubt anyone else aside from him can get the actual tone.(modding his amp, crazy pickups, custom guitar. blah blah the list goes on lol.)

steve vai's technique =10 hrs work out/day+ crazy talent, so if you are like 1/2 of wat he is, be happy cos we are working are ass off almost everidae in the office when he get paid for doing wat he loves. what a dream life
