Stepping multiple pedal switches at the same time

Alrite, this may be a noob question. I have trouble stepping multiple pedal switches (maybe even three pedals) at the same to change the guitar effects. For example, during a solo I use a drive, a boost and a delay.. and right after the solo i need to switch all three off or change to another drive pedal. I consider myself a pedal noob after converting from multi effects processor to single pedals. So how do you guys do it? I've only got two feet and i do need one leg to be on the ground!

I once saw hakim from freefallers (wassup bro!) have both feet on pedals. haha.. i think he got strong pedalboards (Titanium?).

For now, I always turn off the delay first cos the effect switching off is not so obvious. Then the boost, and finally the drive. But somehow I prefer all the effects switching off all at once. I could do that with the multieffects (using patches). Help?

Also, are there any simple foot switches out there that can help you do that?

Thanks for your help!

lol aluminium board. misse board!

you can get a looper from tymc :) then dont need to tap dance alr

for me; my pedal tapping skills improved over time.i used to have the same problem but i eventually got used to tapping multiple pedals at high speed.

lol.. yeah, u can get a looper.. or for me, sometimes i just position all 3 pedals that i need turned on side by side, then i use 1 foot to step on the switches in one swift motion..
like for eg, 1st pedal i use my heel, then 2nd pedal i use the center of my foor, then 3rd pedal i use my toes..
i dont use the whole feet to step on all 3 pedals at the same time though, i just use heel, then center, then toes..
haha, hope this helps.. can save u money instead of buying a looper, but kinda risky on stage if u didnt manage to step properly

Some pedals have really hard to depress buttons (like my Artec Delay) while some are super easy (Like my Maxxon OD808 ). I've tried my best to position them close to each other but there's always a limitation to that (where modulations, EQ, drives go in your pedal chain).

So this signal looper will do the job? I'll check it out.. any recommendations?

"tap dancin".. lol

Looper

I've checked out the looper. http://tymusiccenter.com/product_info.php?products_id=156

Does this mean that all the effects in the send/return chain has to always be used together?

for example: Send > Drive> Delay> Return

Does this mean that I lose the ability to use them independantly?

>>>kenny = your heel and toe technique sounds similiar to an advanced driving technique where you step the accelerator and the brake pedals together to turn a corner so as not to lose rpm... :P Maybe you can be a future rally car racer...

this is the one that seems to suit you best from your description

Loopy loops

I'll probably go down to TY to ask them more about configurations and all that. In the meantime, i'll just practice my tap dancing skills just in case.

Thanks guys for answering my noob question!

P.S. Come down to support s.p.o.n.g.e for the Suntec Band Finals this saturday! I will not be needing to step multiple pedals simultaneously for the songs though! :P

Yep it does. What the looper does, besides keeping the pedals in a true bypass loop when not in use, is that it allows you to activate your pedals without having to reach to the ends of the board (bad esp if u have a big board). More convenient, but you still need to allocate one switch/loop to one pedal, unless you're willing to place 2-3 pedals always in the same arrgt within a loop and lose the independence, as you've pointed out.

If you're looking for something that allows you to make several presets (like a multi-efx), with each preset activating different combis of pedals - all of which can function independently - then you need a midi switching system. You can check out the WOBO Proglooper (probably the cheapest option around), or if you are really looking to spend big time you can take a look at the GigRig.

Create a multi-efx board with your own choice of stompboxes - Awesome!

Yea.. that does sound like what I need. I'll check those out. Anyways, will all these extra wiring have any side effects like weaker input? If these devices have negligible side effects than they're a worthy investment.

How about buying those "two jacks into one" adapters (those you can find at audio shops so that plug in two guitars into the same amp)? Will this make it possible to connect the pedals through the looper and through the bypass like in a "parallel" circuit??? (had to ask.. took electrical engineering and feedback control systems last time :P) Can I control them independantly this way?

No ill effects due to wiring. The wiring isn't any more complicated than a looper strip. If you want to just try it out I have a WOBO Proglooper with me. You can borrow it or bring ur rig over to my place to try. Lovely little tool...I don't use it for my gigging board cos I have a g-system (which has inherent switching capabilities) for that.

hey fiq! alamak i think i'm abit late in participating in this thread. hehe.

anyway, i'm using the mrmisse pedalboard. i don't know if its titanium but it seems to hold out pretty well. for your case, i'd recommend the fishfinger looper from tymc. its small and effective.. very simple!

as for me, i use the A+B soapbar looper from tymc. it allows me to place my modulations in one loop, and dirt in the other. easier lah, especially since i stack 3 dirt pedals together for some songs.. with the loop off, you can take your time during the verse to activate the pedals in the loop.. then when the noisy part comes, jus step on the loop switch to unleash the fury! hehe.

btw, what time will sponge be performing? i'll be at esplanade 4-5pm. would love to drop by suntec!
