Hey guys,

ive got this thing to power up.. the adaptor that came with it is a 110V one.

In order to power it, do i need a step UP or step DOWN transformer? Also, where could i get one for a decent price?

Thanks
James

Thanks! Where would i be able to find one that would last for quite awhile?

Sim Lim? Any recommended brands?

Cheers,
James

if theres homefix round da corner, can try there. I have seen it being sold in the shop.

If not, simlim tower 3rd floors, the shops round there shud have as well. Just need to walk round and ask.

I remember theres some threads in the forums on transformer before, the infos mentioned might be more useful. You might want to search for those

Aight ill search.

thanks path bro!

@ Noein, haha. havent learnt this yet. im studying kinematics now in physics.

you wld need a step dwon transformer!

that being said... you have to check the power rating of your adapter with your transfomer...the transformer power rating should be higher or equal to that of the adapter your using...

PS: Ive got a Vanson step down/up transfomer (60W). I bought it from challenger and have no use for cos after buying it, I realised my adapter(radial tonebone bought from canada) was broken. Check it out here http://www.tradeeasy.com/supplier/1...rnational-60-watt-dual-voltage-converter.html
Interested? $10

The other popular alternative is this brand called Newstar that challenger carries too.

PM me or SMS me if your keen :)

Jon, does yours have a 3 pin plug on the part which is inserted to our wall main's supply?

Im only getting the thing tomorrow so yeah. haha

If you're using it to power like say, an amplifier, take note of the wattage of the transformer. I'm powering an amp that has a max output of 100W (tube) and I'm using a newstar transformer that's rated at 300W for safety's sake, and it works perfectly fine.

noted, yeah. surely wont be nice if you cheap out on the transformer and then get one off a lower wattage and then your amp blows.

Im using this to power a wireless system btw.

buy the highest power transformer you can afford. They can get quite hot when used or long periods of time. Most of them will AUTO-CUTand you may lose data/ function while it cools down. Downright irritating - the smaller wattage ones do that.

J_m_s....i guess mine is not what you are looking for then.. cos mine's 2 pin..mind you thou...most of the transformers your going to find will be 2 pin.

Rollie Pollie: "buy the highest power transformer you can afford"... that might be too bulky and heavy for him...but i agree its always good to have a higher power rating.

Also most of these smaller transformers are not made for for long periods of usesage...at most...5-6 hours . They just weren't designed for that...so there is always a chance of overheating and the transformer would fail..

hey bro, i'd advise you to just get a new adapter cos carrying the transformer around + the adapter is gonna be quite bulky eh. lol. but of course its up to you. haha.

dric, thanks for the advice. haha. I think i might just go with that.

@ lifele55, its a AKG guitar bug wireless. which is replacing my Samson airline wireless(going to my other guitarist)
