stay still whammy bar!!

hey guys..

my whammy bar wont stay put where i want it to be. whenever i fit in the arm into the bridge it just swings down to the ground. i also noticed the arm having some teeny bits of rust at its butt end. abit..

help!

ok heres some advice. theres this stuff called teflon tape. its those white stretchy tape which is used to like water proof leaky joints of pipes and stuff. get the stuff and wrap around the screw thread of the arm and put in. my trem arm also loose and very shaky, thats usually the prob with vintage trems, currently now a pet peeve cos my suhr has that prob with the gotoh 1088. alternative, u can go to those toy model shops and get the tamiya thread lock fluid which u apply some onto the screw thread and screw it in to make it a snug fit.

is it a strat? if it is a strat then you must have lost the little black spring that fender puts in their tremolo slots

I think penta-tonic nailed it. you should try his method.

another alternative is to use masking tape and wrap around the thread of the arm. well thats the poor man's alternative .
