Starting out big

You really outdid yourself bro...not every beginner can stake serious claim to a 58 Hot Rod as their first...

That guitar is indeed a beauty.....loving it!

I started with a Gibson LP Standard with the faded finish as my first electric lol. Prior to that I was playing acoustic for about half a year lol.

TS, I know how it feels to start with a really nice and cool guitar, but if I were you, I'd rather not get a reissue as the necks are damn fat. They're even fatter than the 50's neck on mine, up to the point I can't play as well as I should be able to on my guitar.

You should try to get the feel of it first, and try other guitars as well. If you play really heavy stuff, maybe you may want another guitar for it. I've been with my LP for about a year now, and I already feel like getting a second guitar, as I suddenly got the interest in metal not long ago, and the sound of LP just isn't heavy enough for me, and I still use it to play blues.

Also, try the amp first. When I got a 50W carvin, I underestimated the volume of it, and now I don't play at more than volume 1.5, so you might want to think about that too.

I know that an expensive and good looking guitar is really nice to see, but seriously, if it feels bad, you'll hate playing on it. I chose mine because of the feel of it, over the more expensive ones like the normal standard, because I like the and sound of it, and because I don't like finished necks. (Partially because the flames look nicer to me with less lacquer but that's besides the point lol)

i'd like to see how long you'd last with this guitar. good luck. :D.

smacks of jealousy dude.

That needs to be rephrased to something like, " I'd like to see how long before you can actually buy one".....and lets see whether you can even get your hands on one even if you can. One out of 6 in the world isnt exactly very common my friend :D

thats all down to personal preference. u might hate fat necks and u cant play with guitars that have fat necks, but other ppl might like fat necks. i love fat necks myself. i'm quite sure the ts is not that silly to buy a guitar that feels uncomfortable in his hands man.
