spoiling the market

if you browse through the private music teachers section on luthermusic, you'll realise there are too many "drum teachers" advertising for their service.

i have no qualms with that, but i really can't understand how these people take as low as $15 per hour and negotiable still?! HELLO, the market rate is definitely way above 15buckaroos, and i have to say i really abhor these people, whom i guess are those who think they're flashy enough with their sticks and therefore able to teach.

these brainless egoistic lowlifes not only spoil the market, they also give a bad name to local "drum teachers" and cause alot of trouble for those who in this to put food on the table.

whew. feels better now.

well. not exactly.

spoiling the market is 1 thing, but 15$, IF u wanna learn for drum lesson, would you go for 15$ one? im not trying to say something bad but sometimes price do describe the quality of the goods/services [but not all the time] but no harm trying what, who knows the 15 bucks guy can play like portnoy

agrees.. why not ask him to show u a solo before he teaches u anything? :p

15 bucks per hour is dirt cheap.

HA, honestly, what are the chances the 15BUX fella can portnoy himself all over the kit? besides, if i really am interested to take lessons, i'd know - after doing some homework, that 15bucks is cheap beyond reasoning - and the only reason or course is the fella is half a fraud.

sentiments, lepids, but then again, it's not about whose drum teacher can solo like the big drum names but about what he can offer you. that's why we don't stick to one teacher - we move on, after we've learnt what the teacher has to offer - that's what i tell my students too.

hey this problem with market spoiling is prevalent in the normal tuition-teacher scenario too.

but similarly... students are willing to pay $50 an hour for a good teacher. its the value that counts.

but dude, qualification is not really impt wad,as long as u can play and u know what you're doin, ur students...hahaha,i got nth to say bout them la -_-" anyway,$15 is already way way bellow the market price, actually its 30$ an hour, rite?

dunno ley i touch on everything loh.. chord construction, techniques, theory, improvisation...sometimes not one hour also extend until siao..
