I come across this article:

http://www.audioholics.com/educatio...ker-spikes-and-cones-2013-what2019s-the-point

I don't wanna go through the whole article I just add a few point especially we are having bookshelf monitors.

1. Whatever possible, sand fill or lead fill speaker stand.
2. Find high quality well machine stainless steel cone to spike(ceramic another alternative).
3. Use only three cone per side. (front two, One back or verse vs).
4. Vibration control is easier on floor standing speaker than bookshelf.

Spiking speaker will mostly affect bass as mention, but sometime in mid-high when dealing with vocal. The music flow is faster(due to less bass resonance).

Voodoos:
1. Placing soft cloth on the sides and top of the speaker.
2. Stick a coin beside the power socket live point for studio monitor.
3. Putting a small dense material like ceramic on top of the speaker.
4. Lift your cable off the floor.

These are the things, I done when I'm into audiophile. These sort I have done working in a audiophile shop. It will work great or worse. It has subtle changes when doing all these tweets.
