speech level singing

Eyo. Whether it's SLS or whatever else kinda training, there's always something to learn from all of them; None of them are perfect, and none of them are completely useless.

Every technique suits everyone differently, and whether it works or not depends on the vocalists' effort, not whether it's a a best-selling vocal hypotheses or old-fashioned, familiar techniques.

At the end of the day, since vocals are an intuitive and biological instrument, it's up to the vocalist him/herself who can tell which suits them best without having the least amount of strain, time, and effort on themselves.

If anyone asked me, I'd suggest trying out as many sorts of vocal training as you can and decide from there, cos all our voices, vocal problems, vocal targets, vocal styles are different.

Imo I think it makes better worth of our time sharing the "wrong teachings" of vocal teachers and their techniques and why they don't work for you, rather than promoting what works best for that individual.

Speaking of which, has anyone come across vocal teachers that do nothing but just play the piano and give you songs to sing after the the first two lessons or something?

anyone had speech level singing training? what is the difference between that and normal vocal training? is it better by a lot or only slight difference?

I'd gone thru normal & SLS training. Currently I'm still taking SLS & nvr regretted. For those who thinks $50 or above is expensive, re-think again. A session of it is probably 4-8 session of what normal vocal lesson could provide. And in fact, results are diff. SLS truly connects voice in most effortless ways. And there's no waste of effort in any of exercise. I used to spent few hundreds on other trainings but not much of result until I tried SLS.

Invest in it, you will find it's highway to reaching the voice that you wanted.

I'm one of Dan's client and I must say he is the best coach so far.

Its not just about SLS iteself. It also has got to do with the way he interacts and coaches his client. Most of the vocal coaches out there just teach for the sake or teaching. Daniel is dedicated and he stresses on fixing every little bit of mistake that you made in the lesson. You can really feel that he makes the effort to go the extra mile to clarify your every doubts and etc.

I think that 150/hr is really worth it compared to the 50/hr spent on music schools ( where you waste time and learn things at an extremely slow rate.) SLS is effective and the expensive lesson cost is a good investment for any vocalists out there who are serious about singing as a career.

In fact, SGD 150/hr for a SLS lesson is pretty cheap already. Those level 5 coaches in the US surely would charge those top stars at an even higher rate. If I'm not wrong, Dave Stroud charges about USD 400/hr.

Hi all, I'm new here.

Are there students under Alice here? Care to share your learning experience? Comments etc.

I like to take up SLS and Daniel is out of my budget so have to go with Alice.

There's actually 4 SLS teachers here now. You can find them using the teacher finder on the SLS website.

Chenglehung takes lessons from Alice, he posts here in this forum.
