Guys ! Did you all notice this feature on the New Korg M3 Keys'... :D

Korg Komponent System

The M3 music workstation/sampler introduces the new Korg Komponent System, featuring detachable keyboard and sound generator sections. The 61-key model lets you mount a RADIAS-R analog modeling synthesizer instead of the M3-M sound generator, the 73-key model lets you mount the M3-M together with a RADIAS-R analog modeling synthesizer, and the 88-key model supports the combination of M3-M and RADIAS-R or even mounting two M3-M units simultaneously. Of course you can detach the M3-M sound generator and use it as a sound module, giving you great flexibility for constructing the system you need whenever you want.

yep. quite cool. if only their keyboard section can be turned into a general USB midi controller when detached from the M3.

Eventually it is like that..But, if you remove the module, the key bed is for nothing....as all the ins/outs are on the module..even the power supply... :(

Which means, the key bed after removal of Module is mere toy.... :?

Take a closer look at the pictures below...

Can anyone who read Japanese tell me about the availablity date as mentioned in the above picture Please ?

Can' read Japanese but can read Chinese.

Seems like 61 keys & module available in March 07.
73 & 88 keys variants from June 07.
All dates estiamted.

BTW the module is not standard 19" size. So cannot fit in a rack. At best, a desktop module.

Rumors that...M3 61 keys may cost around S$4k retail and M3 Module around S$2.5K..

Japan & Asia receive first..Releasing in US only in June..So all Angmo's going crazy there..

I got some mails to buy and ship to US if it comes here in March..

Proud to be an Asian ? (Singaporean) :D

>> M3 61 keys may cost around S$4k retail and M3 Module around S$2.5K..

$1.5K is a little steep for just the keys don't you think so?
Can almost buy the Radias Rack for that price.

I'll definitely switch my Triton 88 to M3 88 keys... but I think it will be quite costly... need to sell back side liao...

well, I prolly sell my triton? (Erm... not sure if I bear to let it go)... Hmm sounds like a good idea to use the Triton to control the M3 module but I am usually too lazy to hook things up (except for performances) so... I might just get the M3... Arhh major GAS...

By the way, the M3 keyboard can be used between the M3 module and Radias module. I think it's their new strategy... I believe they will start producing more of such inter-switchable modules... but what would be interesting is if the keyboard allows 2 modules to be rigged at the same time.. that would have made more sense... so if I get an M3, I can rig on Radias module as well. Wouldn't that be awesome? The connection between the module and the keyboard is not standard USB connection... so that means it's dedicated. So you can't use it on other midi device (keyboard wise)... the module have midi and USB... but not the keyboard.

someone called me? the M3 is cool had a go at it in japan as well as the motif XS. motif XS still feels more like the bread and butter workstation. M3 with Karma 2nd generation gives you so much creative possibilities - seems more suited to electronic kinda music. Again its the user that makes the difference though. the videos for both in youtube should give a decent idea of their strengths

There is a Radias in the M3... but it's a very different synth. Radias is more of a modelling VA synth... M3 is a workstation. When I work, I need a workstation... with Karma integration as well as Oasys synthesis onboard (plus a Radias in M3) it's almost everything I want of KORG so it's not just GAS... Like my Triton now is the brain of all my synths and a workstation + sequencer, the M3 (if I do get) will replace this 5-6 year old brain... the Radias is not a workstation... it doesn't give you 16 track sequencing power and does not allow you to have expansion... so Radias is a performance synth for me where as a new M3 would replace my workstation.

BUT all being said, it's just excuses for having GAS. :P

actually i thought the M3 sounded more similar to the triton than trinity, judging from the demo mp3s. trinity sounds are quite thin, which the M3 isn't really.

i'm pretty sure sonicbrat and jazzfish are different people. GAS is widely used lingo bongman... just maybe not so much in keyboardist circles cos keyboards are more expensive and so we don't really buy/trade gear that often, compared to guitarists/bassists.
