I am currently doing a research on Theistic Satanism and music. I will appreciate if you can give me a list of bands that had composed music about Satan/Lucifer. I will like a list of songs that are in some way related to Satanism. Thanks for your help.

i feel it weird tat there are a few researches goin around...

sori ah... not attacking any1... just wanna say tat google is easier to get answers

They are many and they are varied.

My personal favorites are...

Satan gave me a taco - Beck

In this tune Beck is given a Mexican dinner by Beelzebub himself. Unfortunately it turns out to be a meal of questionable quality and eventually leads the singer through a serious of misfortunes including a violent assault at the hands of a freakish lady, a courtroom appearance with a motley array of occult figures and ultimately a successful but somewhat cliched career as a rock star. In the end I think the message is a variation on the Robert Johnson mythos that your soul can be traded for mastery of music.

Satan is Boring - Sonic Youth

This early number form the 'Youth was a b-side from there single 'Flower' released in 1986. The lyrics are somewhat cryptic but seem to point to some kind of duality of deception and damnation. A more descriptive title might have been Sonic Youth is Boring.

Satans Jewel Crown - Emmylou Harris

On this plaintive country pop outing, Emmylou sings of salvation from Satan's temptation. The song carries a naive message that a life filled with "drinking and runnin' around" will lead to damnation. So take Emmylous advice and walk don't run.

Satan is my Motor - Cake

Cake has a car that is the embodiment of pure evil and the motor is none other than the fallen angle Satan himself. This opens the way for a historic show down since Ministry once bragged that "Jesus built my hotrod".

Here's a couple Satan themed songs. Enjoy!

Hey Satan, You Rock - Therapy?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5J5S4R0yLLA

Irish alt rock / metal / industrial pioneers. Best Therapy? song since their fade into obscurity following their seminal 90s classic album (and mainstream crossover) Troublegum. "Venom on / The jukebox / Postcards to hell / Hey Satan, you rock". Wicked fun!

Satan Said Dance - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!

When Satan says dance, you say hell yeah! Too bad it's to this. Thier first album was light years better.

Mogwai Fear Satan - Mogwai

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBRVJlcQYxs

Mogwai were so scared they forgot the words to this song. Still, plenty loud guitars! Song goes on forever! Sonic explosions! Lesson in dynamics! Nice.

Devil Raised A Good Boy - Paul Westerberg

Ooh someone edited and extracted this from the one-track 43:55 min long MP3 release called 49:00 (confused yet?). Lo fi wonderment. Paul Westerberg rocks.

Lucifer - Catherine Wheel

B-side from their Ma Solituda single off the 1997 classic, Adam & Eve which remains one of the best albums of the 90s and a band that Coldplay probably borrowed quite a lot from. Wonderful moody tune that builds up and takes off - like all their best tunes. "It takes one to know one."

The Devil - PJ Harvey

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSqRJbA9Duo

A pining woman wails about the devil entering into her soul. From White Chalk, a much more quiet and contemplative album than what she's better known for. Exploring her inner Kate Bush?

hmm. Dark Funeral's Arrival of Satan's Empire? i love that song.
okay.

ah , i can sense where this thread is going to..

I did say that this site is a little biased...

a little biased is a little bit of an understatement hehe.

anyway, perhaps the most "popular" "satanic" music has got to be most of the black metal bands. check out Mayhem, Gorgoroth and such.

some blackened death metal as well, my favourite has to be Akercocke and Behemoth.

Apparently when Voodoo was first extracted and looked into, people claimed that music was one of the ways of Voodoo since it made one spell bound or hooked to a beat. -.-''
