something like garageband

There are unfriendly versions that are FOC, but just that you have to make do with some limitations. E.g. Pro Tools Lite for Mac and Win XP, downloadable from the Digidesign site itself. Or some friendly programmers who write some stuff and share them, like some midi drum machines some years ago, can't remember.

What I'm trying to say is, yeah there are free stuff, just have to make do a bit. But I haven't checked things out in recent years, wonder if such free things still exist for downloads...

I do agree with cheez to a certain extend (ironic huh  ).. i think my definition of friendly sharing is to spread da musicc.. haha definitely not crediting other ppl's works as urs.. thats a a few levels higher than sharing! its called stealing  i do not consider sharing music and plagerizing the same. But plz, buy the softwares after u used it, or whenever u have the cash!

Thanks for saying that tera! Your words as one who came up with an album speaks a lot to the other young people out there, more than you know!

Anyway, it is a very fine line between "sharing" and "stealing". In fact, they are the same. That's why there's a law against "sharing"! And I think "sharing" and "plagarizing" are the same - stealing. "Sharing" music steals from somebody's rice bowl; "sharing software" steals from the developers; "plagarizing" steals another's intellectual property.

although i agree that sharing is also "Stealing" in some sense, but i sometimes believe in robin hood - stealing from the rich to give to the poor - just my view. But i believe many here (including me) would buy the album if they like tracks that had been shared with them :).. sometimes , it acts as a form of publicity. After receiving u must give (as in buy) !

Well, the law says that stealing is against the law, even if it is stealing from the richest man on earth! I find "sharing songs" strealing from the rice bowl of fellow musicians. Some of them barely make it to survive. Even if they are rich - stealing is still stealing! I don't think the judge will give leniency because the person's second name is Robin Hood!

Anyway, we are deviating from the main thread. Back to garageband!
