Some help with testing guitars

Why must RGT?

You can get additional sustains from other sources in your rig. Get a RG prestige, you wont regret. After that you would like to buy more Ibanezs :)

yeahead... i would love that.. a prestige.. BUT

as with alot of people, money makes the world go round, and sadly my world is not going that well.. so i might as well just setle for the second best now, the RGTs..

i personally like the RGT coz the neck is really smooth to play, and i am very comfortable playing it. I've tried the RGT32FM, but not the RGT42DX that's why i am so lost right now.

Hi there!

I've used Ibanez guitars when I first started playing the guitar. But there's this problem with Ibanez guitars that I've noticed. The guitar will 'warp'(Intonation run out of place) after 2 years. I first thought, it's because of the cheaper model that I've bought earlier that the quality was not rightly perfected. But on a higher end model, it goes the same. In total, I've bought 4 Ibanez guitars in the past. And they share the same problem. Otherwise, the sound would be great. Just give a span of 2 years and it's almost a garbage by then.

Amazingly, I have no problems with my Hamer guitar that I've used for more than 7 years. It sound perfectly nice the time I bought it and it's more seasoned now.

I have nothing against Ibanez as I'm a guitarist too. I'm sure all guitars have it's own problem too in time. Just sharing my experience. Maybe some Ibanez guitar owners who have used it for more than 2 years could advise on this matter. Or whether I'm just the unlucky one getting the 'defect' guitars. Hehehe!

what i meant was, the second in line of what i can afford(or cannot).. haha

however, my friend is asking me to get an ESP, what do you think? sorry if this is quite generalised, if u get what i mean :?

Tetragrammaton: i didnt face any problem about neck warp on my ex-rg350. But that isnt a big issue as it can be adjusted

vheissu: An ESP will set you back at around 2k and up, which i think is beyond your budget? you may want to consider the Edwards series, they are quality guitars and i think most of them will falls within you price range.

Hey there!

I've tried ESP guitars and I just can't seemed to get that 'cry' thing on it. As I used to be a Metal Guitarist, ESP guitar doesn't suit me. But honestly, I've never own any ESP guitars. So, really can't advise on any problems there may be.

I can understand about budget constraint. I'm also aware that you're thinking of getting Ibanez in the first place as it has some 'standard' in owning a guitar. What I can advise you is, it's better to buy a high end guitar which is not well known rather than getting a lower end guitar with some brands. At the end of the day, you'll be the ones getting the satisfaction in your tool (guitar).

You buy a higher end guitar which might not be popular in market. But again, everthing has risks. You'll never know what's in store later over the years. The important thing, you really feel good playing the guitar rather than the brand name. I've just bought a Shine guitar which is made in China as I feel good playing in it. I just ammend a bit on the pick-up and it sounded better than my Hamer. But 'better' may not be the same as your expectation. It lies in ever individual with different preference.

Great advice everyone.. Thanks, i'll give everything a try at davis and other shops on Saturday, hopefully i can decide soon. My guitar Died(ed).. anyway.. if lets say the guitar is REALLY good and costs like not more than 2000, i'll get it compared to the 1000 or so ones that do not last as much, and cannot satisfy my playings..

anyway, top stuff everyone! thanks again

I've been using a friend's Ibanez FRmodel with EMG pups for a while now ..

I love jumbo frets and the wizzard neck.

99% of the other time I'm a fender strat man

Yeah ..Ibanez(es) are cool

I dont have any intonation problem with my almost 10 years old JEM90. I have played 20 years old 77FP and it is perfectly intonated.

vheissu, if you can wait a bit longer, rumor said Ibanez would be releasing RGT6EX in other regions this summer. Neck through RG with EMGs  you can choose fix or floating bridge. Sub may have more info from swee lee.

guitar necks would warp regardless of the time frame; if conditions are unfavourable, the guitar you bought yesterday would display a warped neck today, won't take 2 years for it to happen... i have a 14 year old RG whose neck remains straight, period. but this is NOT in defence of the Ibanez brand name, they don't give me FREE guitars for saying this.

The neck wrapping issue is something that most necks will face. More so for any guitar with thin shredder necks... unless they have like.. 3 truss rods or some non-wood-based neck.

However, take care of your guitar... store it well... check them at regular intervals.. do the necessary setup/maintainance. You'll be okay then.

In anycase, thread starter, do note... the neck-thru = more sustain arguement is really... minimal. A well made bolt-on will be just as good. ( Note: Well made bolt-on. )

Anyway, check out some Yamaha guitars too.

hahaha..well..i wud normall pop in and try out guitars when its not so crowded..

and besides since im too shy and embarassed to play in the first place..i tend to turn the volume down really really low...

attitude wise..im nt too bothered.good or bad..as long as i get wad i want.juz put up with it.tts life.not everyone are all smiles.
