Hi guys, I've been a big Boys Like Girls songs. I've tried to figure out their strumming pattern for their song, cos they usually use the same strumming pattern. But I couldn't figure the strumming pattern out for songs like Hero/Heroine and The Great Escape. Anyone can help me out? X.x and teach me hw to figure out strumming patterns

LOL! Im not fan of theirs but most rock songs i know use down up strumming:)

Figuring strumming pattern... Just listen to the song and try to play along with the guitar.. Strumming pattern actually does not matter at all... Coming up with your own is alright as long as the timing is still correct:rolleyes:

Haha I only know some songs can apply the strumming pattern of All About You by Mcfly. I tried figuring but timing all wrong x.x

try humming the pattern 1st. if u cant even tell the pattern then there's no way u can figure out the strumming. unless of course u use tabs, which can sometimes get pretty inaccurate :p

Try your best to sense the rhythm! And humming helps you to get the rhythm too.

Then try your best to time your strokes to that same rhythm.

These strumming patterns usually come naturally with practice so don't give up!

hey! im a fan of BLG. for acoustic mostly their songs is open D DADF#AD. i think martin also plays the electric in open D. for paul it should be standard. strumming patterns should be like common ones that pop songs uses. its quite simple actually. you got to listen to the song and feel the groove. do pm me if you need help or anything.

@paradox: O: O: i don't think we should confuse them with alternate tunings yet. Hahaha. Chord shapes are totally different.

Anyway, try to hear the drum beats to get the rhythm, and once you have it, then use a metronome so you have the beat. Then go figure out the strummming.

Happy Strumming!

Generally when you strum, it's either up or down. You need to experiment and get familiar with how it sounds with up/down and also get familiar with rhythm patterns etc.

Take a quick look here..

just listen to the song over and over again and take special note of the strumming sounds/pattern.

use a good speaker/headphone in order to listen clearly.

why wud u wanna have the same strumming pattern as BLG? as long as it sounds right and on rhythm, its ok what.. lol
