Snare Drum Talk

Take note that if u intend to buy the snare from her, you need to confirm your paypal address.

How did you manage to do that? At the moment, Paypal is only able to confirm addresses in the US..

i couldn't!! after the auction ended, i paid her through paypal and she refunded me back, asking me to confirm my paypal address. i did everything i could but just couldn't get my address confirmed.

i contacted paypal and they said my bank does not support the confirm address option. on her part, she agreed to do the shipment as long as i show proof of the credit card number linked to my shipping address.

so i scanned a copy of my credit card statement (blanking out the sensitive info of course) and she accepted it.

Cool, thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I've had to go through a similar thing with other ebay sellers who only accept Paypal payments from accounts with a confirmed address.

Im not sure if its alright to reply about the things you mentioned, since its off topic....

Anyway, I thought Singapore was recognized by paypal? I mean the credit card companies.

I believe, to have a confirmed address, you need to enroll yourself and pay 1.95USD, charged to your CC of course. Then it will be credited to your paypal account. I may be wrong though. As I am also awaiting if my Paypall account will work. sigh....

Did you guys know that there was someone here, in singapore, who sold a Starclassic G-brass at ebay? wow, it went so cheap, well relatively of course.... I lost by 5 USD, how sad...

You're wrong :) That is actually the Paypal Verification process. Your address will still remain unconfirmed.

With the exception of some addresses in the UK and Canada, those of us in the rest of the world (generally), apart from the US, are not able to have a confirmed address.

Hmm... Are you sure it's Confirmed and not just Verified?

marc there are good deals, just have to be luncky enough to find them at the right time.

almost bought a 16" Paragon crash cymbal for S$20 (not incl shipment), but realised i don't know very much about it except its supposed to be very exx.

well they put the prices low as people would start bidding on them..

some sellers are not trustworthy unless they have a "power-seller" or something thats recognised in his credit...

and some items have No reserve or reserve price yet to meet..

so if the reserve price is not met, the dealer, although u have won the auction, can still withdraw the winning bids... so yeah sometiimes lucky, sometimes nt..:D

Well Marc, it all comes wif the experience. If Ebay hasnt got any good stuff or aren't trustworthy, there wouldnt be throngs of ppl like me and others here buying stuff off it. So ya, its all a mindset, u gota have a more open-mind and know-how when it comes to dealing on ebay. And doesnt mean most sellers without 'Power Seller' label are untrustworthy, in fact, latest research states tat so far, prob on ebay are only abt 0.1% of the total transaction and that's mainly accounted to wrong shipping address or payment issues and not so much on fraud. So ya, its all a perception.

No joke, 20 plys 8O Almost 1" thick... What's your ply config?
6 inner plies of Birch surrounded by 14 outer plies of Maple right?

I bought it from Helmi Swee Lee at List less 30%(Alvin approval) excluding 5% GST (that the best they could give it to me)...so I paid around S$850.00 for it....it also means if I get it during sales less 50% period I can actually save around S$200 over dollars..

But, during the 2007 Chinese New Year Sales there was a only a 13" Reference Snare and it's in Scarlet Fade and it doesn't match my Piano Black MLX - so because of these 2 factors I did not buy it...I wanted the 14" Granite Sparkle.

PS;- shit..Helmi told me, the snare was already there (they only brought in 2 of these snare), but they did not want to put up the 14" Reference Snare in Granite Sparkle up for 50% sales anyway - so I have no choice but to buy it - at least at less30% but having to pay another 5% GST...what to do?

Yes it has 10 Lugs & it's make up of 14 Outer Ply Maple & 6 Inner Ply Birch (20 ply all in all) with 45 degree Bearing Edge...and this snare does not comes with the Pearl Reference Kit even if buyer buy the entire Kit - it's an optional item.
