smoking affect singing?

I was a hardcore, almost 1x20 stick pack a day, from age 13 to 18. Kicked it before NS and never looked back. Now, 2nd hand smoke gives me difficulty in breathing, so if you guys who smoke finds me moving away from you, I don't mean to be offensive. Just want to get myself back to normal.

gordonzz - seriously, even if u can't quit, i think u should cut down on ur smoking habits. Reducing it helps u to spend more on guitar-related equipment.

i have an aunt (father's sister) who used to be a samsui woman, rubber cutter before working at my dad's tailor shop. she's 1928. both their parents passed away when they were at a very young age. they were taken care by one of their uncle's wife. lived in chinatown and sold cigarette for a living. my dad was about 7 years old and my aunt was 14.

to cut long story short. years went by and i was already a teenager. that was the time when government discourage people from smoking. my sisters and i 'pressured' them to quit too. both of them stopped just like that! never picked up a smoke ever since.

whenever i hear people who keep saying they can't quit, my aunt and dad's determination flash back to me. i really respect them for that.

it is never a matter of 'can or cannot', it is just a matter of 'want or not'.
