i was shopping around in penisula ytd with my friend and we came across this shop called music theme. the guys there were super friendly (as compared to the other bigshop selling PRS and LTD guitars).

i was looking around hoping to find something that's cheap and good for me to spend my gst credits on and the sales staff was recommending me this smarvo amp. its a 30w full tube amp. if i remembered correctly, its 2 channel (clean and od/dist) with eq and i dunnoe wad else liao. quite abit of knobs la. the guy was saying all channels are tubed and the preamp quite good. and the price is also GOOD. only $350.

i didnt try it then coz my friend wanted to try a guitar instead.

so, i was wondering, if any1 here has owned or tried that amp before? (or any smavro amp)

they had a smavro stack there too. maybe if the price is right, i might be getting one back.

any bros out here got any opinions regarding this brand of amp? i nv tried anything except for marshall, line6 and my bc rich amp at the moment so i dun really know.

i have a 30watt Line 6 Spider III Amp and i think its awesome, used to have a 15watt smarvo but it gives a clean distortion sound with the gain on. yea so, just my opinion.

i've used it only once ever and it was at a jamming room. it was years back but from what i could recall, it wasn't too bad. i prefer vox's and randall's though

I used them at Stone Jamz studio. I quite like them but for some reason my bandmates aren't too keen on them. Good cleans and heavy distortion, better than the Marshall MGs and AVTs in my humble opinion.

i actually owned a 40w solid state smarvo.

the built in drive is surprisingly, quite good. u're totally right, better than the marshall solid states.

however, the eq section is a nightmare.

350$ for a 30 watt full tube... Sounds dirt cheap to me man... Any idea whats the exact model?

not sure if it is true, i remember reading that it was made of marshall parts.

Not sure! haha

i've tried the MGs and i dun quite like it to a certain extend. i was considering bout the line6 spider III 30w too but it sounds abit "digital".

no idea regarding the model tho. but thats wad the guy told me. the smavro site has no catalogue at all. youtube doesnt have much vids on this brand of amps but the only one i found seemed quite good. lol

If I'm not wrong they're made in the same factory.

Oh ask Ized or Zax, I think one of them endorses Smarvo amps, they should give you the best feedback about them.

Smarvo's give me a headache hahaha . I use them in SP's jamming studio and it was so horrible , i invited one of my lecturers down to have a listen . He granted me the budget to rent Mesa's for all my shows after that .

wad an awesome lecturer u have! ROFL. issit that bad? and btw, were u the one that they said thats endorsing for smarvo?

we were being sarcastic about that haha long story . No smarvo doesn't endorse .

ROFL. so i guess conclusion = bad afterall. was it the solid state one that u're using last time or the tube one? i've only managed to find the one reviewing on the 40w solid state. the clean sounds pretty sweet but all the other high gain effects (should be those on board one)tested sound really screwed.

Tubes haha hmm , yeah but i find the cleans too trebly hahaha . Invest in a marshall mg , cheap and good . The marshall micro stacks are damn good .
