slight pickups problem

after changing some pickups, through the amp, my guitar sounds VERY soft when i lightly pick it and MUCH louder when i pick it only SLIGHTLY harder. is there something wrong with my pickups? or is this normal. the difference is quite large between the sounds with only a slight difference in pressure applied. im using lace sensors.

could it be cause i only play it at vol 3 when practising at home on a 30 watt? but that doesnt explain why the sound is so much louder with a slight increase in pressure only
