Slayer in Singapore: Laugh at ourselves?

everything happens for a reason, people go to watch slayer cos they like the music, there's probably a reason why people boo Singapore too.

Partly true... But some who neither like nor listen Slayer went just to prove that they listen to metal... Ah... that's something worse...

then thats their reason for going. wat im trying to say is that people dont boo singapore for no reason at all. there has to be an underlining factor behind it all.

ok, singapore is great, but no offence, im really a patriotic person and i wont chant 'singapore, singapore' on a gig where a foreign band plays, but i still love local bands. being honest

I dun think the chanting was done in disrespect any foreign bands. They are doing for themselves and the acknowledgement of their fellow citizens in the hall.

Probably Singaporeans don't know how to mosh and get booed for it... People might think singaporeans are just plain copycats... And disruptive when others wanna watch Slayer as it's a rare opportunity for such a band to come by singapore...

it's not about copycatting. if you don't like to mosh and you join the mosh coz that's what you see in videos, then you're being a copycat. but if you just like to mosh then, you mosh! there's a reason why everyone does it. it feels good. it's a release. but no one says you have to if it feels uncomfortable. just stand somewhere away from the pit and do your watching. that's why the pit is always in the centre. those who want to watch can have their space on the side. that's as considerate as we can get so that everyone can do their thing.

so Singaporeans still don't know how to start a proper circle pit but i tell you what, i was impressed. there were no cunts with their elbows up, flailing their fists, people actually stopped to help the ones that had fallen so they don't get trampled, people supporting the surfers so they don't land on their head. it was great to see. i think that's something Singaporeans can be proud of. and i could go back to my spot 2 rows from the stage anytime i wanted to rest! if we are like that at every gig, i don't see how authorities can say that moshing is evil.

aiyah it was just a joke lah you loser wet blankets......

you think the people chanting were actually taking it seriously. it was supposed to be out of irony.

the way I call it, the folks who started the spore chant have the freddom to do so, it is not offensive or incitiing anyting.

and the folks who booed have thier reasons for doing so, it is not putting anyone in harms' way , perhaps only bruised egos :)

I think we should just relac more, as a contry, and stop taking things too seriously :)

just have to accept other ppl have their values and opinion, it is what makes life interesting. We should use this energy creativly, not destructively.

when push comes to shove, tink we will still be 'one ppl. one nation' :)

just my 2 measures worth :)

hmmm, maybe government must change the NS scheme.

Instead of sending citizen to NS for 2 years, next time just send them to overseas countries like India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Srilanka, Nigeria, etc for 2 years so that they can be grateful of what they have in Singapore.

have you served your NS yet?
